Tell me about your mother....

This hit home. I've known Ivies; their sense of entitlement is mind-boggling. It can be tedious to be on a committee with them; they expect to be made chair; they are patronizing about ideas or directions they didn't originate.
BTW, I'm a Cleveland State grad - both undergraduate and graduate. I had 3 children and a husband when I started; prestige was out of the question. Location was alao a factor.
By NOT attending more prestigious institutions, I saved a TON of money. It made it possible for me to pursue my interests, which led me to teaching.
Funnily enough, I have attended many more highly regarded universities (none Ivy) since graduation. As a physics teacher, I generally get the credits free or at very low cost. So, I haven't had the Obama experience of being overwhelmed by student debt.
As a child of working-class parents, I was raised to be practical. I can't count on some sugar daddy to shower me with "bling". I'm a Saturday's child - I work for a living.
