i love this. is staten island still the last republican hold out of the five boroughs? it was always the most red in the ny times post-election maps, to my memory.

also, what is with these republicans getting to keep their jobs after their shit hits the fan?

why do democrats always step down!

the republican party has demonstrated time and time again that it is an enemy to gay men and women. i am still amazed at the ferocity of the log cabinette goofballs in their defense of their precious party.

Gravatar Good point evangenital - but I'd like to add my disdain at the lack of response on the part of the opponents to republicans (aka Democrats) that for some reason seem incapable or unwilling to make these connections.

Why would they consistently avoid this opportunity?

No one is above reproach - especially politicans - but when THOSE people make political points by kicking the shit out of fags and the democrats don't call them on their bull it infuriates me.

It's like being beaten to pulp and watching the witness walk away because they don't want to get involved.

Thanks for nothing.

Gravatar There are several issues going with the differential between Republicans and Democrates, in issues related to hypocrisy. The Republicans are the capitalist or businessman's party. I don't know hoew many people have been around this sort, but , as with bussiness there is no problem with breaking the law or doing immoral things , as long as you don't get caught. Then, the faster you get that behind you the better. It's just the spirit of enterprise. Even the religious fanatical leaders are engaged in putting on a show for money; even the religious leaders are caught, make contrition, and then go on to swindle more people.
Even the new group of religious crazies were brought aboard by Carl Rove simply for votes. Most of those people don't know how to read, so they don't process complexities like "nonesense" besides they feel a need to be forgiving as long as the politician
supports and empowers their own brand of idiocy .

The image of Democrats is very different, in that the belief system entails a context of honesty and honor and true compassion. Hell. Republicans can get away with torture and genocide and since they are not associated with real values, it just gets shoved under the rug.

Gravatar You are right, Mark but I think you are also being nice. Just because the repub's crap gets swept under the rug doesn't mean it should. The dems enable the bad behavior and the dems supporters enable the enablers to keep enabling...

the reps wouldn't hesitate (and won't) from calling out the dogs and any respectable rebuttal should do the same. The Rev Wright example is perfect...Obama get's branded by the Rev, yet McCain (and others) aren't held accountable for the views of the religious fanatics they support.

Gravatar That's the other part of the picture, patrick, playing dirty is good business to the reps. The discrepancy is truly bizarre. It's almost as if there is some atavistic thing about being "nice guys" with dems. That starts to sound too dim on my part, not just nice!
Your observation with the Wright business getting so much currancy as it got and didn't deserve: and it was so dumb, compared to the endless list of sleezy things that the republicans should be called on just has to have some explaination.
Who is so dumb as to let that go?
While I don't watch T.V at all any more, I'm sure that it has something to do with what the media will play up/down. But I am really beginning to suspect that there is some kind of colusion with the Dems who are in power and their presumed "rivals." I'm beginning to think that there are some really important agendas related(maybe ) to military expansionism and oil which no one really wants pulled to the surface.
If the Democrates had a platform which was certain and in radical conflict to what has been happening since Reagan at least, they wouldn't be pulling their punches. I think you'll agree that they are; additionally they are just letting things slip through the legislature that would no way go through if they were holding their own. (we can go a long distance with not being nice about that ! ).

If Obama, or whoever really wants to do something liberal and different will the Congress be there to help?

Gravatar Does this one have a diaper fetish like David Vitter?

Gravatar When are the democrats going to call them on this?

I mean really, I recognize that all politicians have skeletons in their closet. So it stands to reason why some are afraid to vigorously pursue certain issues. But c'mon, these morally guided, sexually deprived, "heterosexual" republicans shouldn't continue to claim they are protecting the sanctity of marriage when so many of them have fallen victim to "sexual improprieties". Lastly, when they are passionately fighting against our rights, it should be easy for us to remind them of the actions of their sexually deviant colleagues.

Gravatar It's the hypocrisy stupid.

Gravatar How is he a hypocrite? I don't get it.

What we have here is a private thing. You folks can't have it both ways. If Bill Clinton can do it, than so can't everyone else.

You are the real hypocrite. Your standards change to fit the situation buddy.

And why do you care anyway? Do you liberals need every single seat in the House to get anything done?

Liberals preach about diversity but the fact is you can't stand people who are not exactly like yourselves.

Gravatar When the Republicans vote against and legislate against diversity in sexual expresion and lifesyles, then turn around and commit every form of fornication adultery and "perverse" sex, then they are hypocritical.
It has been the habit of republicans mostly to procure votes of red neck, fundamentalist "family value" type people, they are misrepresenting as a political manuver, not because they believe anything.
The practice of pushing this social conservatism, is occuring as a coverup of the real economic values of Wealthy Republicans, to continue their policies of making wars, exploiting the middle lower and laboring classes.
While I don't regard Bill Clinton as any kind of representative democrate, his lie was of a different stripe, and didn't have to do with the same motivations, since he did not preach "family values". Funny example.

I agree with you., as do many of us liberals and ultra liberals, "buddy", that Bush and the Ultra Cons. have managed to undermine both the legislature and the Judicial system, despite the Constitution.

We are hoping that a lot more impetus can be put behind the effort to show the Republican Crooks for who and what they truly are.

Gravatar Mccommas needs a colonoscopy to get all the right wing bullshit out of its body. It is just and proper to criticize moralizing hypocrites who privately indulge in behaviors that they publicly condemn in others.
Is Mccommas another log cabinette stooge?
