$\"Gravatar\"$ Around this time of year in 2004, the Republicans were revving up their smear machine and the Bush re-election push was in full obnoxious swing. Here in Ohio, it was non-stop, in-your-face Bush shit 24/7.

This year, the Republican listlessness is palpable. Their candidate is doddering. No one enthusiastically supports him. Everyone is anticipating a Democratic congressional landslide in response to eight years of awesome incompetence and failure.

I'm cautiously optimistic, except for one thing--racism. I still worry that in spite of all that's happening, there are millions of potential Democrats who will not vote for a black man.

That is a petrifying thought -McCain on Viagra; he would probably get confused and push the Nuclear button.

candidate. It would spealk very poorly for Americans if he lost since I believe, in truth that it would be the result of racism, which is still alive and well. We'll see how much.

$\"Gravatar\"$ Same thing I've been saying Chris...I don't think that many of the people on here understand, maybe because they live in more liberal areas of the country. Being from Florida, and growing up in Ohio with family still there, I see blatant racism all the time. Is it right? No..but it does exist far more than most people think. IN a private voting booth there will be MANY MANY americans voting for McCain just because Obama is a black man. He has his work cut out for him and maybe he knows what he is doing but to me he can't afford to lose his base and he's doing just that... ah another year of voting for the lesser of two evils...will it ever cease?
