Ask him to clarify his support for the Federal DOMA but his opposition to the state version in NM.
I think he made that point last night, but I haven't had a chance to review all of the show yet.
Also, his discussion of immigration rights for same sex couples isn't resolved as part of the benefit of taking what we can get from the DPs offered by states.
He should have just had drinks with Dodd and Biden at the Holiday Inn.
You are more than generous to invite him to speak on your show. I had always respected Mr. Richardson, until last night. But make no mistake - because his comment was not a 'mistake' - he believes it's a "choice." And that's OK; everyone is entitled to his or her beliefs. What they're not entitled to is lying to "clarify."
What they're also not entitled to is showing up unprepared. He was unprepared last night, hopefully not out of disrespect for the audience. Perhaps he'll be more prepared today.
It's not just generous to have Richardson on right now, but clearly a brilliant way to stoke the conversation anew and make our case clear that being gay is not a choice ontologically, but is a choice existentially to celebrate and affirm. As all ears listen, we thank you (yet again) for taking gay rights to newer levels of public discourse by keeping everyone on task and accountable.
Right now Tucker Carlson is really razzing the whole debate on MSNBC. He is truly disgusting. What I find missing out of most of the discussion is that the event was totally BI-PARTISAN !! It was the Republicans who 100% refused to attend or have anything to do with the gay community. Why hasn't Log Cabin stepped forward to offer an explanation?
Richardson made a big blunder at the forum. I wish the other canidates were grilled like he was grilled. Hillary and Obama are sending him thank you notes. All the focus on this issue, they don't have to answer for their non-answers. At least Richardson has a decent track record on gay rights.
I agree Kathy, Richardson's actions speak much louder than everyone else's words.
Aaron, Bi Partisan means both parties working together or involved. The Republicans weren't there or involved.
I just think it's sad that the Neilson numbers came in barely over 900,000 viewers. That ain't good. I thought it would be several million anyway.
If I may add a few additional thoughts...
(1) JN1034, thank you for your words. I will add them to my future talking points.
(2) I am dismayed at the Nielsen numbers, but I have to say that none of my friends were even aware of last night's event, so, whatever advertising/PR that was done was insufficient. This could have been more viral (did I just say that?) than it was.
All good lessons for the future.

For anyone who's interested in an update on Matt Sanchez, the Marine who was in gay porn and is now friends with Ann Coulter. He just went on an insane and bizarre AIDS rant over at the Columbia University blog. He posted as several people but all you have to do is click on "track" and it shows all the posts that are his. He blatantly violated Columbia policy by screaming about "fags" and saying "if you have AIDS you should get out of this room".
