Let me see if I understand this. He is saying that the experience of teen sexual intercourse is damaging to people, with negative psychological ramifications for the rest of their lives, worse than a teen pregnancy, thus justifying denying sex ed and condoms to young people.
Well, the stats (I looked them up) are that 95% of people have had pre-marital sex. He is saying that 95% of the population is psychologically damaged. If he's only talking about teen pre-marital sex, then the stats on teens is 66% by age 18. He is saying that two-thirds of the population is damaged.
We have 84 teen pregnancies per 1000, the highest in the developed world, resulting in about 400,000 teen births per year. He is saying that this makes our society a better place.
The mind reels.

He gets away with it because- to so much of the rest of the country- the gay issue is not a priority. The public doesn't care either way. So...he's only lying about a minor issue to them. /////Us guys focused on this gay issue all the time have to remember it's unimportant to much of the rest of the country, where the economy takes priority, day to day living, feeding children, gas prices, etc.

Wait, it's not like he gets away with it all the time, this nuttiness is one reason he's not a senator any more.
And you gotta give him credit. He may be a liar, but he's sincere about his lies.

He refers to 17 year old Bristol as a "Woman", but 18 year old Levi as a "Boy".

(anal leakage) Santorum still puts the tard in f*cktard. One of my favorite images is his campaign going down in flames, and he and his fugly kids sniveling.

You're definitely a better man than I am, how you could listen this GARBAGE spewed and either not have such "ICKS", or just kick their teeth down their throats.

I just wish that someone would ask all of these abstinence until marriage people, "Were you a virgin when you got married?"
It would be only fair to expect them to abide by the same standard thet they set for everyone else.

A "moral ecology?" Good grief, now I've heard everything. I'd be curious to know what Santorum's body language was like during this interview, especially when he started ranting about same-sex marriage in the final third of the clip.

pregnancy is not the worst thing. . . the worst thing is engaging in the activity, that's the most damaging thing. . .how about the cheapening of the value of intimacy?. . .
No, pregnancy isn't the worst thing, STDs with long-term/permanent ramifications are.
Geez Ricky, they've already done the damage to their psyche and cheapened the value of intimacy because they disregarded the teaching not to have sex, so how about being responsible so there wouldn't be a baby and so they wouldn't be getting married before they were emotionally prepared for marriage. I don't see how, if they weren't ready or mature enough for sex 5 months ago, they are now suddenly ready for marriage (let alone sex within that marriage). I guess it's OK, because pushing for a marriage among children ill-prepared for one due to an unplanned pregnancy definitely builds up the sanctity of marriage.

Too young to have sex, but old enough to get married and raise a child.
Sweet Lordy-Gordy this man's an idiot.
And his, "We don't have to prove gay marriage is a threat, you have to prove it isn't" line of reasoning is bullshit. If you're going to use language like "Protecting marriage", or "Defending marriage", then you've introduced the idea that something is a threat, that LGBT people are the enemy. So you that obliges you to prove they ARE.

these wingnuts have always used polygamy as an argument against gay marriage. i would put forth that there is no inherent damage in polygamy as long as all parties are adult and agree.
polygamy becomes socially irresponsible when the 24 children from 4 wives need to be supported by welfare because one guy can't support them all. that's one real reason why polygamy is a problem. it drains our society, it doesn't build it up.

Am just listening to this interview -and my mind reels as well, Dr Jillian T. Weiss! Now I know why the USA will always have the highest rate of teen pregnancies in the developed world - and by a country mile. On the other hand: Australia, where I live, comes second or third, so we have nothing to crow about. However, what I still do not understand is why the US don't at least sometimes look to those countries which have a very low rate of teen pregnancies (and abortions), for example the Netherlands.

It isn't the press that lets them get away with it. The rest of the country is complicit in the regard that it doesn't care enough about the GLBT community to verify the facts. It is easier for them to sit back and do nothing.
