I am a Canadian living in the States and over time I have found it curious that Canadians thinks Americans are so arrogant and ignorant. This has not been my experience at all and I am somewhat embarrassed when I read the scathing media and listen to my friends and relatives express their intellectual snobbery (sp?). It would seem that we Canadians think we know everything and Americans are complete morons. It sounds like petty schoolyard jealousy most often displayed by prepubescent children. Am I proud to be Canadian? Of course, but not proud when I hear so many of my compatriates espousing the differences by putting a country and its people down. Canada has a few of its own 'not so proud aspects'. This would seem like a favorite Canadian sport that does not speak of our compassionate, intellectual, caring and friendly character. We should celebrate our differences with pride.
Canadians don't need to put a nation down to be proud of our own country and people.
BTW - Did I laugh at some of your satire? Of course, but I see the US and its people through different eyes now. Maybe we should look at ourselves in the mirror.
