I guess its not surprising that with new ways of promoting and distributing music, the old style of ownership of rights to music may not be the best (if it ever was) to really sell as much as possible. I bet new ownership methods/distribution of rights (not just this one) will crop up as the market finds the one that can create the most value and profit.
