Awesome post, and so true! I witnessed a drunken iPod overthrow just last weekend. Reading the crowd is a talent - just as John Cusack's character in High Fidelity, or the guy I fell for once because he played a certain Air song. Only he was British and pronounced it "aah".

I'm actually not a fan of DJs. Could be the cheesy commentary, or that I have really, really old fashioned taste in music. Probably both. Go figure.

No, in all seriousness, I definately see your point--there is a certain art to DJing. The few parties that I've been to that had professional (okay, semi-professional) DJs were a lot of fun, partly because more people danced.
