I wonder if the Scissor Sisters were just not marketed well here, or if their style of music just appeals more to a non-American audience -- not being of homophobia, but simply because American rock music is just too campy/dancy -- used not as a codeword for gay, but for what it is.

However, looking at all 184 gay musicians listed in Wikipedia (Ian why aren't you there) a good many seem to be British. Maybe the Brits just love the homos and their music....
