While not completely vampire-centric, the Dresden Files have a great take on vampires and the war between wizards and vamps is essentially the backbone of the entire saga.
And, as always, Buffy & Angel are both great series that make vamps fun.
If you want some brain candy, I would recommend Patricia Briggs. Her series based on Mercy (shape shifting mechanic) is rather amusing. It's mostly werewolf based but one of her friends is a vampire and there are a couple books involving them.
And it's completely candy - no deep meaning, the language is easy and the situations are ridiculous. It's beach reading and a complete indulgence for me.
I do have all 7 seasons of Buffy on DVD if you decide you want to watch... And then I'll possibly talk to you about deep stuff if you let me or we can just go on about how cute Seth Green is, either way.
