Gravatar Oh my, that was beautiful! Our beloved Sister Enda's voice is amazing! It feels like a choir of Angels singing!!!! Oh how I love you, Sister Enda, for enriching my life and making me who I am today because of Assunta Secondary School! (Photography work available for viewing on) www.suzanne-lee.com

Gravatar Congratulations, Datin Paduka Sister Enda! I can't think of anyone more deserving of the award..... for the many Malaysians who went through Assunta's doors and whom you've moulded, for all you've been to all of us and our families.
Congrats from my mum too!

Gravatar Felicidades!!! from Barcelona...you have no idea how happy I am to hear this news and especially to hear your beautiful voice...and to still remember the words to the song that I sang so many times. Thank you for everything--wonderful memories, making us who we are today and most importantly, knowing that we continue to be a part of Assunta - our Alma Mater.
With much love, Beulah

Gravatar It was absolutely fantastic to open the site and hear Sr. Enda opps!!! ...ahem..Datin Paduka Sr. Enda signing our school song. Once an Assuntarian , always an Assuntarian. Without having to repeat what has been said, it is very true that you have been instrumental in my life and who I have become. The spirit of truth, joy and sheer willingness and strength will always be an inspiration to me and to all those around you.
You truly deserve this honour and may God bless you abundantly...

Leena

Gravatar I thought I was transported back in time to 1985 when I opened the site and heard you singing the school song, Sister. Even then, not many of us were able to sing the song properly! Congratulations on the latest honours - I am sure that there will be more to come in the future. Please know that you are in our thoughts and hearts (be it in the best or worst of times) even if we don't say it openly or often enough.

Gravatar ".... like a candle that's set in a window at night
Your fond love has cheered me and guided me right

Sure I love the dear silver that shines in your hair
And the brow that's all furrowed and wrinkled with care
I kiss the dear fingers so toil worn for me(us)
Oh, God Bless you and keep you
Mother Macree"

Didn't dream that the words in the song that you taught us more than 40 years ago can be so aptly used today.
CONGRATULATIONS Dear Sr. Enda. You deserve to be recognised. You deserve the title.

Gravatar Sr Enda, I thank God for the young singing Irish nun who arrived on our shores in the 1950's because she brought with her many universal values which she inculcated in me and other young girls who came to her school in her jovial, musical & unique way. Congratulations Sister! You deserve this award. May God bless you always for the love, guidance and respect you gave us all regardless of race, religion or creed.

Gravatar Congratulations and Felicitations, our dearest Datin Paduka Sister Enda!

Congratulations on getting your rightful recognition from our country at a formal level. Your contributions can’t really be quantified, but this marks an important chapter in the history of our beloved Alma Mater.

The lessons you taught us, both implicity and explicitly, would be worth decoding and writing a book about how you communicated respect, love and charity and instilled that in many, many of our hearts, cutting across race, creed, and colour.

You continue to be an inspiration to me, personally, and to many other Assuntarians whom I know and read or hear about. Thank God for you, dearest Sister, and thank you for sharing your gifts with us.

With much love, gratitude, admiration and continued prayers for your health and well-being, Regina Morris

Gravatar Dearest Sr Enda

I've always remembered at that Catechism class (only the 5th formers had that privilege) in 1971, when you told us that in whatever we do, as long as we put LOVE into it, we will find joy, whether in single or married state. Today's royal affirmation is not only a recognition of the good works that you've done, but more of the LOVE that you've selflessly given to all whose lives you've touched. We may not have all turned out to be world leaders and record holders - but we've all turned out to be special women of substance, carrying on and sharing the Light of Assunta, in the middle of the world, wherever we may be. Thank you for your gracious SERVIAM.
God Bless and Keep You Always in His special gaze, especially during this holy season of HOPE, PEACE, JOY and LOVE.

Gravatar Dear Yang Berbahagia Datuk Paduka Sister Enda,

Congratulations. I was moved to tears reading all the messages to you. I remember clearly when I first stepped in to Assunta school in 1981, I was wearing house clothes as my dad did not have enough money to buy my school uniform. I was standing at the corridor, feeling embarrased, not knowing what to do. You came along and gave me a big hug saying that everything is going to be alright and that you love me. It has been 26 years since and I still carry this memory around with me. With your loving, compassionate and caring nature, you have shown me that there are people out there who loves us no matter whether we are poor, rich, bad or good. I am pround to be an Assuntarian. May God Bless You.

I hope I am not further flooding this already super flooded e-groups.

I learnt of your award recently and was also sent an alert article from Bernama below

*Google News Alert for: "MERCY Malaysia"

Bernama - Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia
Sister Enda counts Mercy Malaysia founder Dr Jemilah Mahmud as one of her students. "It gladdens my heart to see that the school spirit is very much alive ...*

Sr. Enda, you deserve this more than anyone else I know who has received such awards in Selangor. Your contribution and impact on all our lives and the influence that our schooling has had on our journey through life is immeasurable. I just wanted to thank you for that and for your constant support, encouragement and love towards me. I did not see the documentary on"Outstanding Malaysians" shown on TV in September until recently. I was very touched by the interviews involving you and Janny Yew and was told that you had in fact given the producer, given a list of names and phone numbers of all my close friends in school (many were too camera shy I am told). I do not feel I deserve to be among the 7 people chosen for that documentary but thank you none the less.

Perhaps the greatest reward for you dear Sr. is for all of us continue to live upholding the values sown during our formative years in school. And for us to reflect the true spirit of charity, tolerance and love among the different faiths, cultures and nationalities that we may come from.

Thank you again Y. Bhg. Datin Paduka Sr. Enda and congratulations. I wish I was home to visit you but I am in Canberra at the moment for meetings with Aussie Govt and aid agencies and from here will fly to Syria to look into the needs of approximately 2 million Iraqi refugees.

Much love and respect

Congrats Datin.....from all the D'Silva girls. We used to aspire to become a nun...none of us D'Silva girls made it there. But we can still aspire to become a Datin. As always.....YOU ARE INDEED OUR INSPIRATION.
Love, Lourett, Susan, Annet and Cameila

Gravatar Congratulations to you Sister Enda. You deserve the accolades. It has been long time coming.
A question was posed to the assunta yahoogroup how you will be address from here on. My answer is that I don't see why anything has to change. You will be always be Sister Enda and you shall be addressed lovingly as so. We have never met, I am an ex-La Sallean (PJ) during Brother Lawrence's time. I know of you as Sister Enda and no title will ever change who you are to many of us who know you as SISTER Enda.
All the best, take care.
regards...eugene

Gravatar To my much beloved Sister Enda,

We applaud this piece of wonderful news all the way from the North Pole! I wish I was in beautiful Malaysia to congratulate you in person but instead I am in a land so full of snow getting ready to welcome a White Christmas in Calgary! We hope to see you in Malaysia hopefully in August or December 2008!

Congratulations!

Love, hugs & kisses,
Scott Haderer, Irene Belthazar & Nicole Haderer

Gravatar Dearest Sister Enda,
This is fantastic news! This recognition is a long time coming.

You have touched the lives of so many of us and instilled in us positive values that we carry with us throughout our lives.

You've done a fantastic job that Assuntarians can tell another Assuntarian apart in a crowd. There's an immediate camaraderie when that happens. We love you and Assunta.

God bless you. Have a Merry Christmas!

Gravatar Dear Sister,

Well Done, On your Datukship!! I knew it was just a matter of time before "they" gave U some form of recognition for ALL your contribution, care and guidance in moulding a huge number of the fairer-sex who lived in PJ between the 1960s - 1990s. There's hardly a mention of Assunta without U, Sister. For me...Assunta = Sister Enda, opps, Datin Paduka Sister Enda. God Bless & May the Lord Keep U In His Warm Embrace.
Lots of Love, Mum, Mohan & Darshan.

Gravatar Congratulations Sister Enda to your well deserved Datukship!! Am honoured to be an Assuntarian and I want to thank my parents who have insisted that I study in Assunta Convent and no other schools eventhough we moved out of PJ, we travelled all the way to school in Assunta from KL. Am proud that all Assuntarians think so fondly of you because of your wonderful caring nature that will never be erased from our memories ever. You are an inspiration and role model to us all. God Bless you and wishing you well always.

Much love and respect,
Martina Ryan Gibbs (197

Gravatar Our Datin Paduka Sister Enda Ryan dearest,

I remember the cheers and roars from all Assuntarians, including those who were enrolled after your retirement (a day all Assuntarians dreaded) in 1989, whenever you returned to the school assembly for a visit. It is because of your genuine love for every Assuntarian irrespective of stream, class, race or creed that you remain so well loved till today.

It was not only academic education which you imparted to us. You inculcated in us the wholesome values of character development, compassion for the less fortunate in society, loyalty to country and to always achieve the best. You taught us discipline in a loving way, and how each and everyone of us was special in our own ways despite whatever our shortcomings we may have held.

Dubbed the singing nun, the school came alive with your vivacious singing during assemblies, or announcements over the PA system for school to end.

Strange as this sounds, since finishing school, it is easy to “fish out” i.e. identify another person who hailed from a convent school, although we maybe complete strangers to each other. At university, another Malaysian asked me if I attended Assunta. Just a few months ago, a former headmistress of a La Salle school asked me if I were a convent schoolgirl, to which she mentioned to the effect of “can see the Irish sisters’ upbringing in convent girls.” On a few other work-related instances, I’ve bumped into other Assuntarians whereby although we don’t know each other at all, somehow we can recognize that we’re all old-girls of our alma mater. In each ocassion, immediately there’s a shared bonding among us and nostalgia reigns. All this, we owe to Sister Enda and her legacy.

Heartiest congratulations on your DSIS – an award well deserved and way overdue. Thank you Sister, for being the roots and pillars of our foundation.

Ivy Tan, class of 1992
