Girl Yada...yes i'm aware of that. I've been called a non-Muslim, and infidel and other things for being Shia.

Did anyone give you explanation for calling you such a mean name/s? As all I get is Shia's (all factions) don't believe in Imam thing. Well this is not a valid reason for me. Then Shia bashing goes on by saying that no Sunni Muslim is allowed in their mass so they must be preaching something bad otherwise they let everyone listen their sermon like Sunni's do. Well yes they don't allow us near their mosques but I don't know why?

Anarcho Muslim and Velveteen Rabbi are good, thought-provoking blogs. I won't comment on Dr. Maxtor. An earlier comment probably describes him.

I've seen Shia at the mosques I go to, but they are overwhelmingly Shia places.
As for Saudi blogs, take a look at Farah's. She hasnt been too actively lately, but she is great. A young reform minded Saudi at university in Riyadh.

I used to like Maxtor, but frankly, some of his remarks vis a vis Jews kinda bother me. He and Yakoub seem to disagree on everything too, kind of a strange pairing Plus, I'm pro- women leading prayer so according to Maxtor I'm 'brainless'.

Girl Yada - I am Shia and grew up in Pakistan. Unless something changed drastically in the last few years, I never heard of Sunni's not being allowed in mosques or Imam Barra's. In fact my grand mother was Sunni and frequented Imam Barra's on a regular basis. There is no big secret about what is preached there. In Moharram the big mosques use loudspeakers outside and it is like going to a Drive-in! Obviously anyone can listen in. Anyway, how can they tell who is Sunni vs. Shia walking into a mosque. There is no secret handshake that I am aware of!

M,
No till 90's noone except Shia are allowed in Shia mosques. As for open doors. Who are we kidding? Pakistan is a close knit society and everyone knows who belong to which religion or to which political party so there is no question of visiting it as Anonymous.
Well I found out that each and every sect in Islam call each other infidel. The madnes when it is going to end? Anyway love and peace for all.

Girl Yada - Pakistan is a big country and not everyone knows everone else, especially in big cities. There are about 30 million shias in Pakistan (20% of poulation). So I disagree that all Shias know everyone else. When I go back there and vist the mosque I know very few people and few people know me. Have you ever been to Pakistan and tried to visit a Shia mosque, or are you just going by rumors?
I agree it is not our place to call anyone infidel. We are all Muslim and need to live together in harmony.
