As I approach the "Big 4-0" in one month's time, your post is very timely indeed. Especially the part aboout becoming a Muslim. I'm having my three year shahada anniversary next week (alhumdulillah), and yeah, if you would have told me that I will convert to Islam I would have thought you were TOTALLY nuts. I'm still in a daze about it (in a good way) on some days, but I think I just have a tendency to make this religion harder than it really needs to be. I like your balance of living life as a Muslim sister while still raising a family and being out there in the dunya; it's a balance I strive (and struggle) for daily.
Hey, I see that you are also in NJ--may I ask where? We could be neighbors, insha-Allah! Wouldn't that be cool?

aint it the truth! Ha! I think back 10 years .... oh, that really was NOT a good time in my life! Thank God that i am where i am today (even if its not always my idea of "perfect"!) Thanks for the perspective on it sis I think i will head to bed now, a bit happier
