Oh. Hope you get better soon. Lyme disease is so common in NJ.

Hey Renee, I'm really sorry to hear about this. I cringe, though, to think that you have to take those antibiotics. I know you've looked into this and so know about secondary infections from using the antibiotics, so I just want to suggest that you take a heavy duty probiotic for the duration of the time you're on the antibiotic and make sure to take Vitamin D. I've been reading so much about how we aren't getting enough and how vitamin D can seriously boost your immune system and response to sickness/disease.
As for the pumping and dumping, yes, do that. And insha'Allah your supply will stay up. Check into formulas without soy. I've been reading a lot about how soy is just not good for us.
Insha'Allah this will all go smoothly and you will get better quickly.

Sorry sis. Insha'allah you will feel better and insha'allah the whole breast-feeding thing will work out. My sister-in-law barely got to breast feed any of her kids due to a variety of different problems - and the kids adapted, they often do so much better than the mommies. I was never breast fed nor my brother, as at the time its importance wasn't understood, and I think we came out fairly ok. So try not to worry about it too much and just relax and go with the flow as much as possible, trust in God, insha'allah everything will be just fine. If you can do that insha'allah you will recover more quickly, because stressing out just delays recovery and contributes to illness.

Robyn - i know. i don't want to take them either. I already take 3000 iu vit d. A probiotic is a good idea. Will go to the health store tomorrow and hopefully can catch the homeopath there as well. I don't do soy. I hope she goes back to nursing after it's all done and the milk is okay. Sucks.
Otowi - i know. It's also just the bonding during feeding and i'm not ready to stop yet. It's also so healthy for baby and mom. Decreases breast cancer etc and i'm a real high risk for cancer so all that is important to me too. Mostly it's the stopping without a transition that i'm just not ready for. I love the bonding between us during feedings. Insh'Allah it'll work out.

I am so sorry to hear that you are having to deal with this, but the most important thing is for you to get better so you can keep being the great mommy you are. I hope you will be able to keep up the breastfeeding and Baby Girl won't have too much trouble adjusting, but the bottle isn't the end of the world. You can still cuddle and have your bonding time. May Allah make it easier for you!
