I think turqoise would be beautiful ...red looks a little girly to me.
The thing about turqoise is it probably won't match up too good.
my mom - the resident quilter- says red would make it "pop" and would be the most dramatic. We both think a chocolate brown would be nice as well. She says that turquoise would be the "tamest" option of the 3. Any way you go she says, "its HER quilt and she needs to do what will make HER happy" 
we love it, btw... she particularly liked the sock monkey fabric :P ...for what its worth, i vote brown :P
oh my goodness that quilt is looking fabulous!
i think you should do the binding in a tiny red polka dot. (white background and small red dots) it would combine with the apples and the other red accents in the quilt.
I thought brown too as a possibility but it just doesn't match LD. His personality is so over the top you know - that's why i was thinking red or as you just said gulnari - except that means making my own binding (sigh) and i was hoping to get it done this weekend but i may have to do it anyway. I was going to use the scraps i have of the polka dot squares in the quilt for it. Not sure if i have enough though. Hmmm hmmm hmmmm, things to think about for sure! Keep the ideas coming you guys. This quilt will be hopefully one that he'll pass on to his little kids one day insh'Allah so i'd like it cute. Even if the quilting and the matching of corners are waaaay off! It's a mess really but the way i quilted it, it looks (sort of) intentional lol.
My vote is red. Love red. I think it will complement the rest of the quilt really well. Have you tried lining up the different options with the edge and seeing which appeals to you the most?
Thanks Hena. I think i'm with red too. I just think it would make it more playful and that's what i wanted for this quilt. The monkeys and all that. I was thinking to pin the binding on today and see which looks better.
