Hey listen sis, I am glad that you are out here. After last night's episode, I had to find a place of comfort. I can't believe the blatent disregard for black queer women here. Why is there such an effort to compromise Bette's Blackness? Her proposal to suddenly be considered as other than white and "mixed-race" was just ridiculous. Regardless of how ambiguous ya need to be, she's Black. I have to ask, what are the components of a rationale so pathologized that continues to distort the fact of her ethnicity? To top it off...last night when they do show a Black queer woman, she is exotic and voiceless. The framing is just too sexually explotive.
Damn the pioneer syndrome, this shit was just ridiculous.

i saw the episode last night, and i think we should boycott the show. i am serious. i was disgusted with the image of the black woman in the glass cage. she didnt have a voice, and she was there for the pleasure of an all white audience. i hate this show

I don't know if you watched any of the Winter Olympics, but while watching the freestyle ski jumping where boys and girls fly as high as five stories doing multiple flips twists and spins, I found out that the most common injury to these young ski jumpers is called exploding heel syndrome, or something like that.
Apparently if you land improperly doing one of these jumps you have a high likelihood of causing your heels to explode on impact.
At one time this kind of injury would have crippled you for life, but now they have developed extensive reconstruction techniques, specifically as a result of this sport.
The average recovery time from this type of injury is a year to 18 months, just a little FYI to think about for your recovery.

I haven't seen Sunday's L Word yet because I was in bed by 6pm! I'm waiting for it to show ON DEMAND so I can catch it. And yes, I still say there's very little diversity on The L Word. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. ONE Black lesbian, ONE latina lesbian, and ONE poor lesbian isn't diversity; that's tokenism. Get it right, beotch! There's ONE Black female, ONE Black male, and 6 white females here at my company -- out of about 50 employees. I guess that makes us diverse.
It seems to me that since there's SO MUCH complaining about the show's lack of diversity (not just from me), that there might just be some truth to the matter.

Most bloggers are so damn serious and intellectual (which is all well and good) but I miss your wonderful commentary.
You aren't just an "african american lesbian" with a blog, you are also a really fuckin' brilliant observer of life and incidents in general.
You are like a smarter, more nuanced Bill Maher with a heart and kids.
I also like how you don't ever hold back. Some people might scratch their heads saying "why did she just rant about this??" But if they actually read you instead of just scanning for key words, they'd appreciate you more.
