It's so sad that people like you and Jean Schmidt have been blinded by this administrations lies. Just curious, have you or any of your family ever served in the military? Does your big mouthed congresswoman Jean Schmidt have any creditials that would justify her calling one of America's great patriots a coward? I didn't think so. So sad to watch the sheep being led to slaughter. You're pathetic!

1. Ms. Schmidt was the conduit of a message from one Marine to a fellow Marine.
2. Notwithstanding Mr. Murtha's hero credentials, he can be called out if his policy recommendations will result in us being weaker in the long run.
3. Serving in the military is not a prerequisite for commenting on military policy...read the Constitution...civilians control the military, not the other way around.
Your attempt to limit legitimate debate to only those that have served in the military would be disastrous; as would like Murtha's policy to withdraw.
Murtha is one heck of a high-ranking member of the military establishment. If he was acting alone, i.e. without some support or backing from the Pentagon, I would be very surprised.
Steve Wilson: I spent 7 1/2 years in the Navy with 2 years spent with a Marine artillery battery during Desert Shield/Storm (a war I opposed.) As for your charges -- what Porkopolis said.
RJ: Frankly, I believe that the fix is in. I do not believe that Murtha spoke on his own, but was convinced by the Democrat "leadership." He sold out his mates in the Corps and has embarrassed his country.

Jean Schmidt is a dingbat. If you want to see a rat back into its hole, just take a look how fast Schmidt was backpedaling from her moronic statement, pretnding that she was an even a bigger idiot than she is and that she had no idea that Murtha was a Marine Colonel. The only one backpedaling faster was her source, Colonel Bubp, who denied everything and effectively threw her to the wolves. Yup, Marines never back down... Except when they are cowards hiding behind false patriotism.
Hey, if you are so gun-ho, why not just move to Iraq? You'd fit in with the mullah's quite well...

I'm a Viet Vet, Army attached to the Marines' III MAF, Da Nang and An Hoa, '66-'67, and I was a captain when I ETS'd in '68. My Grandfather was an Army enlisted man in WWI. My father was a decorated Army non-com medic in North Africa and Italy in WWII. My father-in-law was an Army artilleryman in France in WWII. And my younger brother was a non-com in an Army armored recon unit on the Czech border in '68-'69. So listen carefully, Mr. Wilson, since military credentials seem so bloody important to you. Congressman Murtha is not a coward; he's a fool. Anybody who advocates withdrawing in the middle of a war is a cut and run idiot, previous service credentials notwithstanding. Or are he and his Democrat buddies doing their damnedest to bring GWB down regardless of the damage they do to our national security? If so, I guess that would make him a traitor. Let's see, fool or traitor, take your choice, Navy veteran Wilson. And by the way, thanks for your service to our nation in the Middle East.
Jean Schmidt will not have an opponent in the May primary in my not-so-humble opinion, because 1) she will have the backing of the White House, 2) she will have the support of Ken Blackwell, 3) she's a good fundraiser and has already amassed a decent campaign treasure chest, 4) she will have a good legislative record to campaign on, 5) she has been using her time wisely since the August 2 general election to get her face and name into every nook and cranny in the 2d District and 6) the noise (mainly Democrat-style) her minute-long maiden speech from the floor of the House created will probably serve to boost her already good reputation in this conservative district. Which Republican hopeful can muster the money, the staff and the name-recognition between now and the spring to face her with any reasonable chance of success? None that I can see.
So suck it up, folks. Go Jean!
