You've got to be nuts... When the Liberals were winning majorities with ~41% of the vote we never heard any of this crap... Based on your logic the GG should shut down parliament because ~62% of Canadians voted against the Conservatives, 74% of Canadians voted against the Liberals, 90% of Canadians voted against the Bloc, 81% of Canadians voted against the NDP, and 93% of Canadians voted against the Greens. Get a life. The people who you wanted to win lost. That's it. I would have preferred to see a different final election result too, but it didn't happen. Canadians spoke and neither of us got what we wanted, but you've gone off the deep end.

This is an embarrassing post.
You're contempt for the Canadian electoral system stems solely on not agreeing with the result.
Be a big boy.

Demonizing Stephen Harper is so old. And so pathetic.
The so-called "Natural Governing Party" lost. Accept it and move on.

Well, I see the Tory trolls, even if they deny it, have dropped by.
Anne and BC,
I've gone off the deep end how? And no, this is not just because I didn't get the result I didn't want. This is about fairer representation. You're right, the Liberals shouldn't have had majorities with 41% of the vote. I never said they should have. It's about representaion that more accurately represents the wishes of the electorate. In other words, a more democratic system.
Marc,
As should be very clear to anyone who regularly reads my blogs, I am not a Liberal. Just because I am very concerned about Harper's agenda means I can't accept the Liberal's defeat? Get real.

"I believe that a coalition government holding a majority in parliament would be in the best interests of Canada at this time."
Hmmmm doesn't want a minority. I got an idea let's get a coalition with the liberals and the conservatives? How about we get a dozen liberals to pull a David Emerson and then wouldn't you know it we now have a majority government. Its not that far out of a possibility. There are liberals who voted against same-sex marriage, voted for extension in Afghanistan, etc. So I think we could easily find 12 liberals willing to make a coalition with the conservatives.
How does that sound? Let me guess you will only accept coalitions that have nothing to do with conservatives. But hey at least if 12 liberals became conservatives you get your majority. What's wrong with that?

Nice try, Patrick. Saying that I would like a centre-left coation of parties is different from saying that I want one party to rule with a majority. A majority coaliiton can exist within a minority parliament. But then you probably already knew that, slick. And I make no apologies for wanting a coalition against the far-right Conseratives.

I cannot stomach a SEPARTIST making decisions for my beloved Canada. That is what will happen if we allow this dysfunctional coalition to take place. I never thought I would see the day when the Liberals would go to bed with the separatists. What is happening??? is it love of POWER rather than love of country

you talk about it being damaging to allow him to remain in governement --- how damaging is it to allow the other party leaders to decide they do NOT accept the vote - and gang up together !. when someone trys to over throw the government, isn't that called TREASON??

It`s funny that there are laws permitting this, why didn`t the conservatives try and remove them, instead calling the use of them not moral,it`s because they might have needed those rules themselves. It`s also a laugh when the government says we have to do something that isn`t popular with the people because great leaders don`t let the public influence their decisions. Now they have people that want to lead the country and they have the nerve to say it`s not what Canadians want. They are ALL politicians on both sides,it`s about them not us.When will some of you people realize the only time you are required is when they need money or for you to elect them.

Is that called treason? Um, no. It's entirely consistent with parliamentary protocol.

Bailout 2008, a poem by David Jeffrey
Like a bloodied warrior,
laying broken and torn.
Like a dying soldier, hopeless and forlorn.
But the blood, it be green,
the color of money.
And the soldier is an economy,
and it is anything but funny.
Broken are it's people and shattered are their dreams.
Thanks to the ultra rich and their full proof schemes.
It is a tragedy with more pain to come.
Finance will be Hell, and their wills will be done.
