Skye, violence at a peace rally is not unusual. I've been physically assaulted twice at "peace" marches in Washington, DC over the last five years. Those are the only times I've been attacked in my adult life, including my eight years in the military. "Peace" protests are far more violent than serving in the military.
Generally, radicals tend to be territorial when they are marching and demand dissenters leave the public ground they occupy. They are provoked by videocams. The absence of police encourages them to violence. They are particularly encouraged if they are many of them and only one of you.
I recommend you use the buddy system when operating in anti-war protests, for your own safety. Radicals may only shout at pairs of people but will occassionally attack singletons. The best formation for approaching radicals is in threes. One front person, one person within arm's reach who is overtly with you, and one person with a videocam taping the encounter from the middle distance who is not obviously with you.
Every encounter with radicals should be videotaped so that you can pursue charges later. The "peace" protestors are dangerous and they will lie about any violence they do to you. The police won't pursue a he-said she-said situation. They need evidence. The counter-protestors at Walter Reed tape every protest every Friday night to back up any charges they file with the police. Documenting the protest tends to calm the situation down.

I saw how you operated at Eagles Muster, and you were in the background, taking pictures, videos and taking notes. I imagine that's what you were doing at West Chester, PA. I wonder if the moonbat that attacked you has a history of attacking other women as well?

You can file charges against the person who committed assault and/or battery against you. These will be local charges, as opposed to federal charges. You can also get temporary and/or permanent restraining charges filed against him. If possible, file a "domestic battery" charge against him. This will cause him to legally LOSE any right to own or possess firearms.

Any submission of charges along this theory will probably fail, because the U.S. Government does NOT protect the Civil Rights of ordinary American citizens. The U.S. Department of Justice doesn't have the BALLS to protect certain non-protected-minorities or other specially protected minorities from being deprived of their Federally-protected rights, but Juries DO.
If the police and local Government fail to take action, then you are looking at State-sanctioned criminal discrimination. If you can prove this, then the Federal Government (with incredibly DEEP pockets) may be liable (in financial terms) for what happened to you. Make SURE your lawyer examines this -- there is a SHARP difference between Government-sanctioned discrimination ( which any Competant lawyer should be able to prove) and so-called Private discrimination. You are not anti-war. If you were, you'd support our efforts in helping the Iraqi people (if we broke it, we "own" it, right?). Even anti-war humanitarian Angelina Jolie "gets it". Why don't you? Yours is an anti-occupation movement that does not recognize that more suffering would occur, not less from an irresponsible withdrawal. Nor would even a perceived American defeat in Iraq make us safer.
I understand you care about the soldiers who serve and sacrifice. So do we, who support their mission; who donate to military charities and send cards and care packages...who thank soldiers daily for their services. We weep for those permanently maimed and the strains on their families. That's why those of us on the right are in awe of soldiers and military families.
Your problem is you confuse your support for the soldiers with your partisan politics and anti-war agenda. The absence of war is not the same as the presence of peace.

CJ is one of those soldiers who you profess to support, but who you treat like children or dupes who don't know any better, or who are only in the military not because they believe in what they are doing, but because they supposedly had no other alternatives in life. Please tell me where in there it says that the war is over. But, wait. That still doesn't explain the "Mission Accomplished" banner. Well, allow me to enlighten you as to some FACTS. Don't beat yourself up over this. Remember: I'm a professional.

After service in the Afghan — and Iraqi theaters of war — after 100,000 miles, on the longest carrier deployment in recent history, you are homeward bound. In fact up at West Point last year I was struck in the face with an anti-war sign by one of the A.N.S.W.E.R. organizers. Those 'peace folks' are always violent. They are the reason that the cops have to be there.

Just how much time did you suppose it would take to replace 30 years of brutality under Saddam with instituting democratic change? Even in the absence of an insurgency, even in the absence of Islamic terrorists out to sabotage reconstruction and reconciliation efforts, even in the absence of political partisans acting as a ball-and-chain on expediency and efficiency by holding up the glass half empty at every turn?

I never believed the lefty mantra of support the troops but not the mission. That's impossible to do and that sort of duplicity is showing itself with the attacks on military recruiting stations and incidents such as the one you pointed out, in Forest Lake, Minnesota. A group of Iraq War Veterans on the National Freedom Tour were barred from an engagment at the high school because of phone calls from lefties, some of whom indicated that they may stage a protest if the event took place. One of the Veterans that arranged for the visit is 1999 Forest Lake High graduate, Pete Hegseth, who had this to say:

You might want to run that opinion past the Vietnamese boat people who found Vietnam under the communists so oppressive that they set sail on the open ocean in hopes the US Navy would pick them up and save them. Most of them didn't make it, hundreds of thousands of them, maybe a million.
Your opinion is uncoupled from reality and is possible only because better men than you keep danger so far away from your precious little self that you can scoff that there is any danger at all. Go ask the Vietnamese refugees about danger, about what it's like to live under Communist rule. They live all around you, all over the US. It's pretty easy to find one who can complete your education.

My father was a naval officer during the last couple of years of Vietnam, and was in charge of all Navy security in San Diego. I was finishing high school and observed lots of war protests.
It would tickle the cockles of my heart to see the tactics Jane Fonda (yes, she was there, in person, several times) and her ilk used against the police and military when they 'protested.' Some of what they did was abhorrent and not usable by people with any ethics at all.
However, one thing they did quite often, was take one of the old style professional cameras and, literally, stick it in the face of a young officer or 17 year old military police lad, and fire off a bright camera light inches from their eyes. The natural reaction was to push the camera away. Having another cameraman back about 20 feet taking a picture of this push away of the camera was easy to say the police were 'brutalizing' the poor press corps (who weren't really the press, just swamp garbage setting up young kids).
No need to do the whole deal with the light and all, but having a second camera taking picture of those who are recording the event is well worth the effort. I'd be more than happy to do it if I were closer than a few thousand miles away. Maybe you can get a patriot there in the city who would help being the 'safe valve' camera person.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge my friend and fellow patriot Skye.
At our West Chester Pro-Troop Rallies, she has been our loyal civilian correspondent - putting in so much time at our rallies and at home to spread the news about us and our message of support for the troops.
She's a great blogger that works hard and we all love looking at her photos and videos and reading her reports each week.
Everyone that knows Skye knows how much she believes in our movement of showing public and open support for our troops and their noble mission.
Last Saturday, when she was struck without warning - the reality of it all caused her to have a very tough week. People from all around the country have sent her words of encouragment. And those words and her strength and grace have helped her get through a very difficult week. And I am very happy to say that she will be back on the corner with us today!
She told me that she wants our side to not give the other side anything to use against us. She is not looking for retaliation or anything even close.
Sky - know that we are proud of you and that you mean SO MUCH to our Victory movement!!

Despite the old farts protestations of "You don't know me", everyone who saw the footage knows exactly who and what he is. A sad piece of work indeed. I hope I see him on the streets one day.
