Bless you for taking her in! There is no place on earth for people who mistreat animals. We once had a rescued Irish Wolfhound, with similar traits. She cowered (all 150 lbs of her) when you took a brush out, and ran for the house if you unwound the garden hose. It made us ill to think that anyone could have been so cruel to a sweet dog like she was. Good luck with your new girl!

Gosh, people that are mean to dogs are the lowest forms of life. You got a big heart Skye and the look on your new friend's face could melt anyone's heart.

How can people be so cruel to an innocent dog? Hope she adjusts quickly and well to her new environment. Cheers for adopting her!

Bryan, at least they has some semblance of character to dump Abby at a dog shelter.
It could have been far worse for her..
Jennifer, my sentiments exactly!
Trish, I'm glad to read that there are animal rescuers within the sheepdog family! Thanks for your comments!

Bless ya, Skye! If you have another dog or dogs.....they will help this one in adjusting to a somewhat normal life. It'll take a long while for her behavior to change, so don't expect miracles.....
How I ended up over reading your blog is beyond me. Be that as it may, I left you a the link to mine. I have a pending article about dogs, the many uses & training of them.
Your welcome to drop by anytime & leave your input.
