You were very brave, I'm shivering just from reading the description, which sounds like a scene from the Marathon Man.
Glad to hear that all ended well and hopefully you'll get to enjoy the beautiful weather next week outdoors!

Totally agree about 27 Dresses. I borrowed it from a friend, and was so disappointed - this from someone who is really committed to the cheesy rom-com genre. You know a movie is bad when characters keep having to name each others' key traits, rather than the traits being developed and shown through the acting. Example: "I hate you because you're cynical. I don't want to go out with you because you're cynical. How can I love you? You're cynical" etc.
I might have to start watching better movies. And I hope you feel better soon.

Hope you are feeling almost "like new"...isn't it great to have a reward like fitting into "skinny pants"....some gain with that pain!
I have been working my way through Brian D. Johnson's top 10 movies of 2007 (and he even has a second top 10 list).
Really enjoyed "Lars and the Real Girl"(on Johnson's secondary top 10 list)...moving, and different. I like "different", with regard to movies.
Here are my favourites from his 2 lists: (perhaps you've already seen them?)"No Country for Old Men", "Away from Her","Eastern Promises","Juno", "Atonement", "Lust, Caution", "The Savages" and "Once".
I also agree with you about "Extras"....just great! And Tsotsi.....
Have you ever seen the award winning Australian movie "Japanese Story"(Toni Colette)..slow start ...but finally very worthwhile watching....no spoilers here.
Take care !!

Sarah,
I made the mistake of watching 27 Dresses last night. Ugh. I wish I had your Percocet!
Hope your recovery is swift...and do tell, how was Sex and the City??

love the short and sweet mostly non-mainstream movie review. the only one i've seen before is the diving bell and the butterfly. amazing movie in many respects, but kind of a downer, eh?
have you seen paris je t'aime. i don't know you, but i think you would love it.

Ooooh. I love "Japanese Story" and "Paris, je t'aime". You should definitely watch those!!
I haven't seen any of the movies you reviewed, but thanks for the critiques. Now I have a few new movies on my to watch list. I CAN'T WAIT to see "Sex and the City"... it'll probably be awhile before it comes to Japan though... :(
Hope you are feeling better!!

Japanese Story is a great movie. Don't want to give away what happened with the Sex and the City movie but let's just say that fans of the show won't be disappointed. It was over-the-top, ridiculously campy fun. Samantha Jones stole the show (as always).
I wanted to rent the Paris Hilton movie (the Hottie and the Nottie) but was too embarrassed to bring it to the counter. Has anyone seen it? I love really, really bad movies sometimes. Tonight I am watching the Squid and the Whale...

I am sorry to disagree about 27 Dresses, but hey what can you expect? I love Katherine Heigl, I loved the soundtrack and I'm hopelessly, utterly in love with James Marsden.
:)
Much love and get well soon, Sarah

I'm somewhat on the mend. Mouth still hurts like a mo-fo. Am still on soft diet. Am craving crunchy things like almonds, popcorn and toasted bagels.
Had to go back to the surgeon because of an infection (too gross to go into detail) and am now on a round of antibiotics. Feels like there's no end in sight right now but am back at work finally.
Mitch...your story sounds horrifying.
Kathryn...enjoy SATC. It's a fun movie.
Raul...thanks for the love. But James Marsden? Ew!

Aw, Sarah... you kill me!
What's wrong with James Marsden? Agreed, he is no James Franco, but... :)
