awesome!!! glad to finally get to the end of the story. want to take me on a bike ride in august/september?

Gravatar Oh Thank Heaven for Seven Eleven. They really saved your butt on this trip (eventually anyway). I am happy to hear that you made it back safely because that means you can cycle with us this summer in Canada. Woot! BTW. I saw Jason at the Shawnigan Half Iron last weekend. We were discussing your cycling adventures while waiting for the starting gun.

Gravatar What an amazing trip! I enjoy your blog so much. On my brief visit to Japan in 2005, I also experienced much kindness from strangers - we could not take out a map without someone stopping to offer help.

Gravatar Seven Eleven--ii kibu-n.

The photo of the killer river is classic. I especially love the cute, drowning animals.

I loved hearing about this trip. Good onya for tackling this. So, are you going to bike across Canada when you get back? When do you go back to Canada? Let's speak Japanese together (for happiness).

Gravatar Omedetou gozaimasu! m(__)m

Gravatar Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I strongly agree about challenging your limits and while you do it only for yourself the impact you have on others is huge.

On a side the japanese bike path notes made me giggle because here in Australia it's all the reverse. Hopefully when I get back to Canada I'll get away from the left and keep right. Looking forward to reading more of you updates.

Gravatar nice shirt hanging on the line!!!
go yellowknife!

Gravatar Congratulations on achieving your goal. It's great you can speak enough Japanese to find your way around the countryside.

Gravatar Thank you for sharing with those of us who cannot do such stupendous things.

Gravatar As always, thanks for all of the kind comments :) I'm hoping to ride across Canada next summer (2010). That's the tentative plan. We'll see how things unfold. For now, I'm happy enough just pedaling around Kyoto.

Gravatar This was a huge deal. Give yourself a big pad on the shoulder, you did it! I'll miss the road stories, but hopefully more to come in 2010 when riding across Canada!

Gravatar Epic stories! Great adventure, well-written blog.

You are awesome.

Gravatar Awesome trip. It is very inspiring. What about sore muscles and saddle butt? I am asking realistically. I am thinking about a bike trip myself. Keep it up.

Gravatar I didn't have any sore muscles but I did have a very sore butt. I think six days was the limit for my butt. On a longer trip, I think it would be a good idea to take a rest day every five or six days. I'm not sure what to do about saddle butt. I was in so much pain that I don't think I could have ridden a seventh day.

Gravatar Well done! Thanks for sharing your day-by-day with us. I enjoyed it immensely. That final bike path you took looks heavenly!

Also, in my head, you're pronouncing it 'oat-hoase'. You might not actually be, but I'm just putting that out there.

Gravatar No new posts??

Gravatar Hi Sarah,

Will send you an e-mail soon - just wanted to let you know that Strombo was named to the DSF Board!

Talk soon,

Tam

Gravatar Wow, congrats! Good for you for doing it solo. But it was sorta lonely out on the road by yourself?

What are you up to now? It's been over a month since you've written....are you just busy or did you take off on another adventure somewhere? Hope you're not suffering from some post-traumatic bike trip saddle butt? Don't quit the blog!

Gravatar Just adding my voice to the chorus of people begging for a new blog post. Japanese news is a poor substitute for your insightful epigrams!

Gravatar I've been a bad blogger! I've been busy, but that's no excuse. I have seem to run out of things to say. If anyone has any ideas, then I'll start writing again....

Gravatar Well, maybe you could blog about what you've been doing since May 30th?!I'm sure that would be very interesting! Just take a bunch of photos...all your blog readers do enjoy your Japanese photos...how's school going? What are your plans for the summer? You see, the possibilities are "endless"!

Gravatar You ARE still alive! For a while there I thought you'd dropped off the face of the Earth.

I miss the posts!

Gravatar I was worried about you but I see there is a recent comment from you. Remember you're a billion miles from home and people do think about and worry about you - or at least I do. The blog lets us know you're still kicking around!! K Maybe you can write about what it's like to go over a month and a half with out a blog!! I miss reading your writing.

Gravatar I'm alive! I am. I just got really busy and the blog, unfortunately, dropped off the radar. I'm going to have some free time after my final tests next week. So I'll be back in action soon. I promise. I'm glad that people are wondering where I am and what I'm doing. There's been a lot going on. Some of it juicy, some of it not. But it's mostly good. I just needed a little break from blogging. I don't know what to write about!

Gravatar Hi Sarah;
Wondering who I am?? Your Grandmother
Grey and my husband Robert are brother
and sister - so I Guess that makes us your 'Great' Aunt and Uncle!! We have enjoyed your 'Blog' messages so much -
we are wondering what happened after the one of May 30? Did I miss something?? Keep up the good work!
Your body will be well muscled up!

Gravatar Hi again!!!
I think I spelled Grandma Gray with an 'e' instead of an 'a'! Sorry! That's like spelling Downie with an 'ey' instead of 'ie'. Oh well intent was good. Cheers, Joan

Gravatar Sarah! Missing you in this space. Glad to hear you're okay. Good luck with your tests!

News for me too - moving back to Vancouver and I'm pregnant! (almost 15 weeks now)...

Loads to share. Email me when you get a chance!

Love,
Tam
