Smithers,
Nice summary of the minutes, you'd make a great MCF secretary!
concerning the Birchwood RR, from what I've heard the course is not going to be the State RR course.

I really like the loans the MCF is dishing out. That's a great idea.

StartBikeRacing.com/Beginners Racing Clinics/Youth Recruitment – I still debate whether this should be an objective of the MCF but I have covered that in previous posts.
I still don't get this aversion. If it shouldn't be the MCF's job, and promoters don't want to bother, then who's going to do it and what's going to prevent the sport from dying? And whether it should be or not, it is the first part of the MCF's mission: The membership of the MCF is comprised of bicycle racing clubs in the upper Midwest, whose purpose is the education and promotion of bicycle racing skills and safety, and the promotion of races for bicycle racers.

May I direct you to the MCF's Articles of Incorporation, specifically Article II?
"This corporation is organized exclusively for educational purposes, including, for such purposes receiving and administering funds for educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, instructing and training individuals, and particularly helping young people, in techniques of competitive cycling, bicycle riding safety, and methods of physical conditioning so as to improve and develop their achievement and capabilities, introducing the general public to bicycle riding and racing as beneficial activities, directing, controlling and conducting bicycle competitions, championships, and events, promoting and enhancing bicycling among the citizens of this state, and providing support to organizations qualified under 501 (c) (3) which foster national or international amateur bicycling sports competition."

If we are going to have moto refs, can we also have guys riding around with cameras on the back of motorcycles? Also, I would personally like to some guy on the back of a motorcycle, dressed in yellow with a hand-held chalkboard providing me with knowledge of how far off the back I am.
If, by "old State Championship" you mean the course in Zumbro, it is my understanding that there was an issue with the campground (kampground?)...something about the wedding going on with all of the bike racers. I guess when you are in the middle of fucking nowhere, you don't want a bunch of outsiders coming in and generating business in your establishment. I suspect it has more to do with the perceived culture clash between cyclists and a kampground far too north of the Mason/Dixon to be flying the American, Confederate, and Budweiser flags all on the same poll. Apparently this is why it has been moved--to accomodate the kampground. When I found out about this, I demanded that we continue to have the race, walk around the kampground naked, and engage in all sorts of gay sex. My contact at Birchwood was against this idea. I guess Minnesotans are pretty non-confrontational, after all.

I was thinking of calling the series "Pedaling Squares" but it did not sound as totally awesome as RADIUS.

'MCF banquet will be held at QBP on 1/27/07. No guest speaker has been found yet. I nominate Hollywood Henderson.'
Oh ya, could be FUN... but might need an NC 17 rating!!

If you keep citing the MCF rulebook I will start to suspect Andy is using you as a proxy.

I nominate Mark Karr as MCF speaker and president. Maybe he can fill us in on the Natalie Holloway disapperance.

I'm all for these suggestions. We should organize a big group ride... start in Plainview, go ride loops of the course in a huge pack and piss off the kampgound.... but I'll leave the gay sex to you, jim (I don't swing that way)
I have wondered before if there isn't any reason a different registration location could be utilized, maybe the john deere dealership?

Yeah...I don't, either (not that there's anything wrong with that). I was just throwing ideas out there to see what stuck, and nothing did.
