Gravatar god does not exist you stupid idiot. go read a book and learn something.

Gravatar Darwin's child, if God exists is certainly less casual about his judgments that the author of this blog would hope. In fact, if God exist is probably more precise than an HP scanner.

But we are just humans and we get to express our opinions based on what we know.

Here is what i know:

Users and investors are much more savvy today and wont engage in self-indulgent and egotistic CTOs. Any future investor that reads this blog will think twice before putting a dime into his next start-up.

But its worst to think about the author of this blog in the context of his close community. In describing his (past) close affiliation to the porn industry he justified it cause:

- everybody does it
- it makes money
- it was out of his control

You can believe in God or not, but if the money you make are connected to the porn industry there is a big chance that the money was made at the expenses of girls being violated and abused. There is plenty of research that can back that up. So, what should we learn? that as long as it makes money and other people do it, its OK?

Using the same low moral standards pretty much every crime in history is justifiable.

If this blog was meant to 'set the record straight' it doesnt. If it was supposed to be a veichle to earn the sympathy of people, doesnt look like it did it.

On top of that, few of his former employees (now un-employed) have expressed the desire to be left alone and dont appreciate the musings of of a former cto that, in the attempt to wash his hands, is making life harder for them while they look for new jobs. Again, wanting or not, for the sake of his own interest the author of this blog is demaging other people.

Not the kind of pal id like to go for a beer on friday with, nor the kind of leader i want running my future company. I like honest, hardworking people that dont have to boost themselves nor justify their actions. Self-indulgence and greed have got this country in a difficult situation.

Honest and hardworking Americans will get it back to where it needs to be.

Im talking about the people that are looking at the future, people that need to get (or keep) a job and want to lead an honest life.

There is not much we can learn from this blog, a part from being sorry for his author that is still so blinded by self-indulgence and so desperatly in need of approval.

A bit of silence and respect for the people that didnt make millions and are now looking for a job is not much to ask, is it?

Gravatar @Yasser you are right. self-indulgent is the phrase that defines this blog and you are right, in pursuit of self-indulgence this guy keeps causing problems for others.

silence from here!

darwin's child

Gravatar It really does look like the blog owner has a guilty conscience over the fetid, immoral, borderline criminal enterprise he profitted from.

Regardless of how long or hard he screamed in private emails, its clear when the rubber met the road, he knew on what side his bread was buttered.

I hope you keep your pets and kids inside with those coyotes around. Or else get better with a gun than most dot commers tend to be. Seriously, coyotes will eat your pets just as soon as look at them. I had a friends in Ellensburg who went outside at night only to find an empty dog collar and some fur tuft remains. Coyotes.

Makes a great metaphor for anyone's career involved with 180solutions / Zango at this point. battened down in the profit of their ill gotten gains, coyotes circling the door outside, oblivious (apparently) to the risk, as they continue to preen and proudly strut how great they were.

The wolf, literally, is at the door.

Its poetic justice on so many levels.

I almost could pity, or admire on a greek tragedy plane, but then I remember all the pain and hurt that zango caused families, how much breakage it caused home PC, how much denial the company engaged in, and how much skirting of outdated law they took advantage of.

I cannot forgive people who knowingly made money off damaging others computers for profit, and I suspect I'm not the only one.

Gravatar Its not a nice thing to say but still...
I was so happy to learn that Zango went bankrupt. It only occured to me today when i was reading a webcomic and remembered the dreadfull name of Zango. I searched the news and happily discovered that Zango was no more. I 've read your posts about buisness models, mistakes, advantages etc and as someone who was very frustrated by Zango i am wondering if you really believed what you wrote.
In my opinion its probably for the best of the whole industry that zango died since it was your annoying "you must install our spyware to watch this video" bullshit that made me search for an advertisment blocker. I am using adblock plus and get zero advertisments thanks to zango. I don't know how many more have done the same but zango was the only ad so annoying to convince me to look for a way to block it.
Sorry you lost your jobs anyway and really hope you adopt a more user friendly, less annoying approach in whatever you 'll do in the future.
Ps: I always thought that whoever was behind zango must be really evil and dumb since forcing me to install something i didn't want didn't sound as a great strategy for a company". You aren't evil or dumb but i am wondering how that could have sounded as a good plan.

Gravatar Why don't you shove your fake e-mails up your arse, you are a bastard and the Zango building should have been nuked years ago with you inside. Do you know the kind of crap you have put MILLIONS of people through because of your shitty slimy ratfuck criminal software. Fuck you and your pathetic attempt at distancing yourself from this, you scum. And if you think this comment is extreme, if every Zango "user" in the world were to have a real shot at expressing their frustration to you, you would have been nuked a million times over by now. I bet that's a fake child too.

Gravatar You know, I've tried for a long time to understand why a certain class of people disliked Zango's software so much. After all, it was my job (at which I clearly failed) to try to change those attitudes. But even after all these years, I'm still surprised that people can find such vitriol within themselves. After all, this anger concerns a piece of software which showed them two or three ads a day, when the TV's in their living rooms daily show them hundreds of much more annoying and intrusive advertisements, and the radios in their car likewise. Now, I don't particularly like ads: I'm an NPR guy, and I don't watch television. But still.

Gravatar You just don't stop do you? Are you really that much of a liar or do you actually believe this stuff?

There's a certain class of person that writes obscene/offensive (yet expressive) comments on the internet, and there's a whole other class that disregards any shred of a moral code they might have had to shaft millions.... and then claim they didn't with all the humanity and earnestness of a stapler.

Gravatar Yeah, as it turns out, I actually do believe this stuff . I certainly might be wrong, but what I write is as true as I know how to make it.

Gravatar I can't believe I didn't see this post (and the rest in the series) until now. Never realized there was so much bad blood for Zango, I'm a fan and always will be. Hope LeadImpact can keep up the good work.

Gravatar Thanks, Josh. And glad you like Zango's day parting ability. Zango's had that for years, but I still remember where we were sitting and who was in the room when we were designing the tables to support that particular feature.

Gravatar Definitely keep me posted on whatever it is that you are doing next.

Gravatar You may be interested in Keith's next project: http://www.bigdoor.com/. Like Zango, it's an alternative monetization mechanism for publishers, but unlike Zango, it doesn't require the users to download any software.
