Sounds like mine but oh how I cringe putting in all that butter..I just cannot get myself to make these types of thigns and yet they are so nostalgic, so reminiscent of childhood memories, etc.

Isn't it amazing how making a recipe brings us together with the person whose specialty it was? I enjoyed reading about your grandmother's cookbook. I spent the day yesterday bonding with my Kitchen Aid mixer to make chocolate biscotti, peanut butter/oatmeal/chocolate chip cookies, and ginger snaps for a b-day and some holiday gifts. I was out of eggs by the time I read your post or I would have tried the cookies. Great post.

I know what you mean about the butter Rivermomma. A few years ago, I quit using butter because of health concerns, etc. but after moving back to natural foods, I started using it again. Especially when I bake as it really does make the difference. But, I still feel guilty sometimes.
Lauren, I have found spritz to be welcome anytime of the year. I sometimes make a batch in the middle of the year but only a half batch as I don't need nor want 45 cookies in the house!
