Gravatar Hee-hee-hee Vintage Snoopy

Gravatar Far be for me to dispute the claims of such experts as the Russian secret police, an organization renowned for making the passage from this life to the next as excrutiating painful as humanly possible, but a group of American investigators performed a series of tests on the shroud about ten or fifteen years ago and concluded that it was of medieval provenance. This is not to say that whoever that image is of didnt get a whole can of whupass dumped on him before he shuffled off this mortal coil, but as for it being one Yehoshua bar Youssef ha-Notzri ( I think that is the appropriate name) executed as a seditionist in the first century of the Common Era, that is a little more problematical.

Gravatar Yep, I have mentioned the discrepancy in the American and Russian results in passing. Doesn't it remind you the years when Russians tried to make anything twice as big as made in America? One must mind the tradition.

But yes, if FSB say the guy went through some unpleasentness before being dispatched, I am not the one to argue with them.

Re the full name: you are right about Yehoshua bar Yossef, the last part would be "meh Natzrat", meaning "from Nazaret", having to do with location rather than with the family tree.
