With respect, you ought to read the U.S. Constitution and have that as your judging criteria. A number of the things you expect to be "solved" would be found in a Communist country, not here in the USA (a Constitutional Republic - not democracy btw). Such things as full employment, universal healthcare, "ensuring" enough food on every american's table, etc just make the Federal Govt larger, which is not how this country was set up to be. The first step would be to dramatically cut or just get rid of most/all forms of welfare....that would get people to start working instead of sitting on their "you-know-what's" and collecting a check for doing absolutely squat.

If you're implying it's meant in the way I was talking about (that is, food stamps, endless unemployment pay, etc etc) than I would ask you to read what it's speaking of in context - clearly talking about "the common defense" and the "blessings of liberty"....not a free ride for those unwilling to pull their own.
A large difference, perhaps the largest, between a communisty/socialist country and the U.S. is the fact that here in the U.S. people are meant to be very "individualistic". My paternal grandmother's Hebrew name was Sarah Palin (maiden name; Shirley in English). My first thought she was--heaven forbid--a relative. The last name is Todd Palin's, not Sarah's. Right. On the other hand, I have some mixed feelings re the lady. That she is cool, unoffensive externally and knows how to field-dress a moose fills me with admiration. But nowhere I have seen where it says that she also knows how to cook that moose. And this feels me with dark foreboding.
Well, I have read that her home freezer is full of moose meat. So she's obviously off to a good start.
Freezer is not a big deal. I can buy a lot of meat and stuff that freezer, but what next?
