Snoop: very informative post. Now I'm finally beginning to realize where so many Brits get their info. and why it just so happens that the percentage of ppl in the U.K who support Israel is the lowest in the world...too many Guardian readers!
Brits, hell. Half the population (i.e. all the lefties) of Austin, Texas reads the darn thing.

Dick: are u sure bout all that? I mean the Lone Star State has always been portrayed as a Republican stronghold. Then again, Republicans are not neccessarily pro-Israel, maybe even the opposite trend should be looked into...
The state is Republican, no question. But Austin, known in Texas as a liberal mecca, and far outside the mainstream, consistently votes Democrat.
I should probably correct myself and say 75 percent of Austinites are liberal. I was being generous to the conservatives. We have a lot of military retirees, who boost the conservative percentage, but not near enough to influence most elections.
Dick: but does it really matter? I mean we've had how many different presidents since '47 and U.S. policy with regards to Israel has been pretty much the same, whether Mr. President was an ass or an elephant. So what does it matter whether it's Hillary or Juliani?
Matters a lot if you live here. I suppose you're right, though, the policy to defend Israel militarily (all that ammo we send everytime there's a war), while not exactly taking its side openly is likely to continue, regardless of the caretaker of the moment. I thought 9/11, and some of W's early comments about the murderous Palestinians finally would change it. But it seems not to be. Some say it will take another 9/11 to do it, and that might be so.

But, personally, I think that, when you describe the Jews living in Jerusalem Old City as "Jewish settlers", you are clearly an antisemite...
