Snoop, vis-a-vis the Pope, you're damned if you die in a state of mortal sin, not if you die in a state of being Jewish.
Vis-a-vis France's position: James Buchanan, the president before Lincoln, believed that it was illegal for the Southern states to secede from the Union; he also believed that it was illegal for the Federal government to stop the Southern states from seceding from the Union. Unfortunately, there is no having your cake and eating it too.
Vis-a-vis the horrors the civilian population of Gaza are now undergoing: they voted for Hamas, didnt they? They knew what Hamas stood for, didnt they? They cheered the rockets and the suicide bombers, didnt they? Democracy, as the late, great H. L. Mencken put it, is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard. And so they are.

Akaky - many thanks for putting me right on the subject of damnation - comes to show my knowledge of (any) religion.
And of course, you are right about this, but this bit of common sense seems to be missed by so many. Pity.

Sandmonkey proclaims that Egypt getting blamed for the Israeli-Hamas War means that it is the new Superpower. See his two most recent posts, "Egypt, the new Superpower!" & "Give Ghaza to Egypt?" at http://www.sandmonkey.org
The EUnichs in general and the French in particular remind me of the cowardly townpeople in "High Noon" with one important difference. At least the cowardly townpeople had the sense not to interfer in the gun battle!
PS: I'mmm BBAACCKK!
