Now...I know you said you would like to stay where you are - but I did want to say, people CAN get mortgages. We ARE still selling houses, especially in areas that were not the hardest hit by the "bubble" problems.
We hear many repeating the myth that nobody is making loans. It might have been true JUST at the moment where Fanny and Freddie locked up, but it is not now. If people think they can't buy and sell homes as per usual, that is only going to keep hurting the economy. The requirements for getting mortgages may not be exactly the same as they were a few months ago, but they are still very much available.

i'm catching up on old podcasts and just listened to episode 18--you discussed needles. forgive me if you have since covered the things i'm about to share ; )
if you want to reduce drag on brittanys or other wood (possibly bamboo, though they're usually coated and maybe it would not have such an impact) needles, rub the needles with waxed paper. really! of course you can take very fine sandpaper or 0000 steel wool to really rough spots, if you develop any. ALSO--when i broke a brittany (how do you spell splinters in your butt?)i contacted the manufacturer (this nice guy actually, i forget his name) and he sent me not ONE replacement but TWO for FREE. this was a few years ago, but i bet they still do that.

I gotta tell you that I am in the middle of catching up to your current podcast (Im just now hitting 2008!) I am so enjoying you and all the information you provide! I am a brand new knitter, I just learned this past summer, and I am working on my first pair of socks...they ain't pretty, but Im getting the technique down (2 at a time on one circ) and actually I love making socks...to be honest its the reason I learned to knit, so i could make socks! A whole new world has opened to me (Im a former crocheter and there aren't that many sock patterns for crocheters. Keep up the great podcast and the laughter, you put a smile on my face every time I listen to you!

I just got some purple potatoes from Costco. They are so beautiful! I tried roasting them with a little olive oil and rosemary, which turned out pretty well.
Also, I think salad spinners are genius (even though I don't have one).
A salad spinner is totally worth it. We got ours at a yard sale. It keeps the lettuce crisp for longer, even if you just put it in a ziplock bag in the fridge. It's great.
We've been talking about getting a spinner for years. Still haven't.
I think, actually, that would make for an interesting paper. And I dislike the swears as much as anyone.
I like having the push button top rather than the crank top. The crank top is just more awkward and requires more effort.

I expected, plus I managed to get lost in the kiddie maze with Little Dude (well, somehow we wandered into the regular maze). Four hours on my feet was too much for me, that's for sure. Saturday evening we hosted family for dinner, and then last night we had everyone over again too.
