Hey MaryAnn. Thanks for posting this. The guitar in the last picture is one a WWII veteran from my home town donated and I sent over to some of my 10th Mtn guys. (I confirmed that with them) Mr. Gist, the WWII veteran, was tickled pink when I showed him the article and he saw what was being done with the guitar.

God bless these men. I am awestruck sometimes.
I want to thank you three amazing women for all that you do for our men and women in the military. You have a special place reserved in heaven.

I believe that the soldier, who was paralyzed in the last picture, is my baby brother, SSG Dusty Magner. His was the second vehicle which hit an ied near Nerkh, Afghanistan on June 1, 2009. I wonder if whoever posted this photo could confirm that. I know this must be in the first few hours after the blast and all the memories of that day are flooding back. So hard to put into words. We are so greatful that he came home, and our hearts break for the families and loved ones of those who didn't, and for those who who were injured and whose lives will never be the same.

Heather,
This is MaryAnn, the owner of this blog. It sure sounds like that could be your brother.
I did a followup to this post, linking to more pictures here http://blogs.tampabay.com/photo/...y-
hospital.html
There's a larger version of this photo so you may be able to see his face better. If you still can't tell, let me know and I'll try to find out for you.
How is Dusty doing? Is he at Walter Reed? We are all praying for him, your family, and all of the others.
Hugs from Germany,
MaryAnn

Mary Ann,
I followed your link, and now I feel pretty sure that the wounded soldier in the photo, is not my brother. Do you know of any other articles about June 1, 2009?
Dusty is at the spinal cord injury center in Tampa, Florida. Although, he is a paraplegic, he continues to make improvements, and will work hard everyday until he's able to walk again. Thank you for this website, it is a great way for families to connect.
