I supported a Squaddie through two deployments - it was an honor and a priveledge to do so.

A group of friends and I have discovered some Brits who were working in tandem with American Soldiers we have been supporting. So....we began shipping items to the Brits as well. Following is the most touching "thank you" I have ever received. I'm sharing it to show (for anyone reading this blog who may question the importance of support) how important a small package or letter can be.
In the space of a few days I have received more mail / parcels than I have in the months that I have been here. To say thank you seems inadequate recognition of your generosity and kindness. I say that not just in respect of the pleasure your gifts have brought me but also to the other members of my staff who have benefited.
It is self evident to anyone who watches the news that the job in Iraq is demanding, in extreme, of the service personnel. The stresses of working in this environment could be demoralising. This is not the case, everyone I have met has proven themselves equal to the task and with commitment and selfless dedication that will foster change for the better. They do so not for themselves but for the Iraqis and for their own families and friends at home, to make their lives and their world a safer and better place to live together in.
Thank you for thinking of us all and finding a space in your hearts for those who serve.
You humble servant.

It has been VERY frustrating for us back here in the states to attempt to support the Brits. The addresses we have gotten don't "work" when we get to the post office. It is my understanding that Soldiers Angels is working to eleviate that issue by providing a means to show support to the Brits. For that, and everything else you all do and do so darn well, I say a huge THANK YOU!

What a great email, Leta. Thanks for sharing.
Sandra of SA Europe is making some great progress in putting together support for the Brits and other non-US troops.
I hope you'll visit her site where you can either adopt, or make a donation to pay for a care package which is shipped from Germany to avoid the postal issues you mention.
