But as far as the words aimed at Isreal, after a public beheading a couple years back, Abu al Zarqawi was asked why he felt this furthered his "cause" and he said that he was only doing what Muhummad himself had done in Medina many centuries ago. He stated that this was the duty of the warriors of Islam(towards "infidels") as instructed in the Q'uran. So,for anyone living in the land of Isreal, at the very least based on past history, should take Ahmadinejad at his word.
I have found many subjects on this website compelling and insiteful indeed. I also agree that "terrorism" may be used for propoganda here in America to further certain agendas and thinly disguise others. But, but hatred for the Jews and epic battles for Jerusalem have coincided with many attempts to exterminate these people and evict them from a land the size of Rhode Island throughout recorded history. I personally don't think he's bluffing whatsoever and to what extent his threats can be carried out at this point is open to much debate. We certainly have heard that Russia and China may be eager to add more fuel(weapons, technology, etc.) to the fire in the Middle East.

My persian friends (born in Tehran just after the Revolution) told me about this misquote so I've known this for a while. He is also being misquoted on his position on the holocaust. I've also read Ahmedinejad's letters to the president. They were very well written--if that was actually HIM writing.
The one thing I'm still trying to decide is if Ahmedinejad and the IR should be supported or not???? 80% of the Persians I know are against the Islamic Republic and hear of human rights abuses from their home country on a continual basis (i.e. females being stoned for being raped, students being banned from school for speaking against the government, etc)... Of course, in sheer numbers the IR's crimes cant compare to the US's... and the right answer to regime change wouldn't be the "Iraq Solution"... But still, if Ahmedinejad wasn't a bad guy, why would he allow these things to continue? Does anybody have any information on this?
I also saw the interview of him on MSNBC. He seemed like an intelligent man and that he cared for his people--and that he was against war, death, struggle, etc. But I noticed that at 5 minutes into the clip, he didn't object to being quoted that he wanted Israel "wiped away" (or at leat MSNBC didn't show it).

To me, if Ahmedinejad wanted to stop conflict with the US and UN he could diffuse the entire situation within a week. Clearly, the new American initiative at the UN, which is aiming at transforming the world into a ‘Holocaust Denial Free Zone’ has very little to do with genuine truth-seeking or an authentic interest in historical research. The Americans are there to furnish us all with the futureless nightmare of hard capitalism. They mistakenly believe that they can do so as long they restrict our vision of the past. If to be honest, It isn’t really Abe Foxman and the ADL that the Bush Administration is caring for. And it should be evident that the American decision makers could not care less about the notion of history or the truth of European Judeocide. What’s it about, then? America wants oil and Ahmadinejad has plenty of it. Not wanting to stop there, America also has as its priority stopping Iran from joining the nuclear club that they themselves lead. Yet, It is rather amusing that America - with all its fleets, airplane carriers, cruise missiles, ultimate air power and nuclear might - needs the Holocaust to win what seems to be its next war.

Me personally I saw an interview with Ahmadinejad on 60 minutes (convienantly erased on you tube I might add).Ahmadinejad is actually a decent person who really cares for his people,not to mention the fact he wrote several letters to Bush,urging him to reconsider his stance .Ahmadinejad also qouted the New Testament several times in this letter .Something our supposed christian president has never done except to win a christian vote.Let me ask anyone is what bush is doing ,is any of it what Jesus would do.

We're told to assume that all the President of Iran does is play with his "Wipe Israel Off The Map Action Figures!" and his plans to get "us" next. This is asinine, and there is never a history of him making comments like this cited, merely this one vaguely threatening assertion being super-hyped to sell us another war.
I'm supportive but not entirely sold on him, and the Holocaust denial conference wasl a bad move for media support considering what's happening from somone who should know better.
