"TALISMAN
From the Hebrew tselem and the Chaldaie tsalma, meaning an image or idol. A talisman signifies an implement or instrument, either of wood, or metal, or some precious stone, or even parchment, of various forms, such as a triangle, a cross, a circle, and sometimes a human head or human figure, generally inscribed with characters and constructed with mystical rites and ceremonies. The talisman thus constructed was supposed by the ancients, and even in the Middle Ages, to be invested with supernatural powers and a capacity for protecting its wearer or possessor from evil influences, and for securing to him good fortune and success in his undertakings.
The word amulet, from the Latin amuletum, which comes from the Arabic hamalet, anything worn, though sometimes confounded with the talisman, has a less general signification. For while the talisman served both to procure good and to avert evil, the powers of the amulet were entirely of a protective nature. Frequently, however, the two words are indifferently used.
The use of talismans was introduced in the Middle Ages from the Gnostics. Of the Gnostie talismans none were more frequent than those which were inscribed with divine names. Of these the most common were Iao and Sabao, although we find also the Tetragrammaton, and Elohim, Elohi, Adonai, and other Hebrew appellations of the Deity. Sometimes the talisman contained, not one of the names of God, but that of some mystical person, or the expression of some mystical idea. Thus, on some of the Gnostic talismanic gems, we find the names of the three mythical kings of Cologne, or the saered Abrazas.
The orthodox Christians of the early days of the church were necessarily influenced, by the popular belief in talismans, to adopt many of them; although, of course, they sought to divest them of their magical signification, and to use them simply as symbols. Hence we find among these Christians the Constantinian monogram, composed of the letters X and P. or the Vesica Piscis, as a symbol of Christ, and the image of a little fish as a token of Christian recognition, and the anchor as a mark of Christian hope.
Many of the symbols and symbolic expressions which were in use by the alchemists, the astrologers, and by the Rosicrucians, are to be traced to the Gnostic talismans. The talisman was, it is true, converted from an instrument of incantation into a symbol; lout the symbol was accompanied with a mystical signification which gave it a sacred character.
It has been said that in the Gnostie talislnans the most important element was some one or more of the sacred names of God, derived either from the Hebrews, the Arabians, or from their own abstruse philosophy; sometimes even in the same talisman from all these sources combined Thus there is a Gnostic talisman, said by G. W. King to be still current in Germany as an amulet against plague.
It consists of a silver plate, on which are inscribed various names of God surrounding a magic square, whose figures computed every way make the number thirty-four. In this Gnostic talisman, we will observe the presence not only of sacred names, but also of mystical. And it is to the influence of these talismanic forms, developed in the symbols of the Secret societies of the Middle Ages, and even in the architectural decorations of the builders of the same period, such as the Triangle, the Pentalpha, the Double Triangle, etc., that we are to attribute the prevalence of sacred names and sacred numbers in the symbolic system of Freemasonry.
We do not need a better instance of this trans mutation of Gnostic talismans into Masonic symbols, by a gradual transmission through alchemy, Rosicrucianism, and Medieval architectures than a plate to be found in the Azoth Philosophorum of Basil Valentine, the Hermetic philosopher, who flourished in the seventeenth century.
This plate, which is Hermetic in its design, but is full of Masonic symbolism, represents a winged globe inscribed with a triangle within a square, and on it reposes a dragon. On the latter stands a human figure with two hands and two heads, surrounded by the sun, the moon, and five stars representing the seven planets. One of the heads is that of a male, the other of a female. That hand attached to the male part of the figure holds the Compasses, that to the female, a Square. The Square and Compasses thus distributed seem to indicate that originally a phallic meaning was attached to these symbols as there was to the Point within the Circle, which in this plate also appears in the center of the globe. The Compasses held by the male figure would represent the male generative principle, and the Square held by the female, the female productive principle. The subsequent interpretation given to the combined Square and Compasses was the transmutation from the Hermetic talisman to the Masonic symbol".

The Holy Bible, which is always open in a Lodge as a symbol that its fight should be discussed among the Brethren. The passages at which it is opened differ in the various Degrees (see Scriptures, Reading of the). Masonically, the Book of the Law is that sacred book which is believed by the Freemason of any particular religion to contain the revealed will of God; although, technically, among the Jews, the Torah, or Book of the Law, means only the Pentateuch or five books of Moses. Thus, to the Christian Freemason the Book of the Law is the Old and New Testaments; to the Jew, the Old Testament; to the Mussulman, the Koran ; to the Brahman, the Vedas ; and to the Parsee, the Zendavesta. The Book of the Law is an important symbol in the Royal Arch Degree, concerning which there was a tradition among the Jews that the Book of the Law was lost during the captivity, and that it was among the treasures discovered during the building of the second Temple. The same opinion was entertained by the early Christian fathers, such, for instance, as Irenaeus, Tertullian, and Clemens Alexandrinus; "for," says Prideaux, "they (the Christian fathers) hold that all the Scriptures were lost and destroyed in the Babylonish captivity, and that Ezra restored them all again by Divine revelation." The truth of the tradition is very generally denied by Biblical scholars, who attribute its origin to the fact that Ezra collected together the copies of the law, expurgated them of the errors which had crept into them during the captivity, and arranged a new and correct edition. But the truth or falsity of the legend does not affect the Masonic symbolism. The Book of the Law is the will of God, which, lost to us in our darkness, must be recovered as precedent to our learning what is Truth. As captives to error, truth is lost to us ; when freedom is restored, the first reward will be its discovery".

The Cabala is divided into two kinds, the Practical and the Theoretieal. The Practical Cabala is occupied in instructions for the construction of talismans and amulets, and has no connection with Masonic science.
The Theoretical Cabala is again divided into the Dogmatic and the Literal. The Dogmatic Cabala is the summary of the rabbinical theosophy and philosophy.
The Literal Cabala is the science which teaches a mystical mode of explaining sacred things by a peculiar use of the letters of words, and a reference to their value. Each of these divisions demands a separate attention."

Eliphas Levi says (Dogma abut Ritual of High Magic ii, page 55) that the pentagram is the star of the Magians; it is the sign of the Word made flesh; and according to the direction of its rays, that is, as it points upward with one point or with two, it represents the good or the evil principle, order or disorder; the blessed lamb of Ormuzd and of Saint John, or the accursed god of Mendes; initiation or profanation; Lucifer or Vesper; the morning or the evening star; Marie or Lilith; victory or death; light or darkness (see Pentalpha)".
"PENTALPHA The triple triangle, or the pentalpha of Pythagoras, is so called from the Greel; words pente, meaning five, and alpha, the letter A, because in its configuration it presents the form of that letter in five different positions. It was a doctrine of Pythagoras, that all things proceeded from numbers, and the number five, as being formed by the union of the first odd and the first even, was deemed of peculiar value; and therefore, Cornelius Agrippa says (in his Occult Philosophy) of this figure, that, "by virtue of the number five, it has great command over evil spirits because of its five double triangles and its five acute angles within and its five obtuse angles without, so that this interior pentangle Stains in it many great mysteries." The disciples of Pythagoras, who were indeed its real inventory placed within each of its interior angles one of the letters of the Greek word or the Latin one Salus, both of which signify health; and thus it was made the talisman of health. They placed it at the beginning of their epistles as a greeting to invoke secure health to their correspondent. But its use was not confined to the disciples of Pythagoras. As a talisman, it was employed all over the East as a charm to resist evil spirits. Mone says that it has Deen found in Egypt on the statue of the god Anubis. Lord Brougham says, in his Italy, that it was used by natiochus Epiphanes, and a writer in Notes and queries (Third Series ix, page 511) says that he has found it on the coins of Lysimachus. On old oritish and Gaulish coins it is often seen beneath the feet of the sacred and mythical horse, which was the ensign of the ancient Saxons. The Druids wore it on their sandals as a symbol of Deity, and hence the Germans call the figure Druttenfuss, a word originally signifying Druid's foot, but which, in the gradual corruptions of language, is now made to mean Witch's foot. Even at the present day it retains its hold upon the minds of the common people of Germany, and is drawn on or affixed to cradles, thresholds of houses, and stable-doors, to keep off witches and elves. The early Christians referred it to the five wounds of the Savior, because, when properly inscribed upon the representation of a human body, the five points will respectively extend to and touch the side, the two hands, and the two feet. I have made several connections with what I feel may be the fulfillment of prophecy in the book of Revelation. The involvement that masons have had with a very demonic book that a man by the name Aleister Crowley wrote called the "BOOK OF THE LAW" and how he has influenced the occult and our government!
That's not all, people who are involved with the occult are saying that by folding the dollar bill as described in the "BOOK OF THE LAW", that it is actually fulfilling "prophecy" from this book that "foretells the towers falling"!
This book was written in the year 1904. Now the dollar bill, with the "great seal of the united states"printed on the back, according to mackey's encyclopedia of freemasonry, would qualify as a Talisman. The seal printed on the reverse side was first printed in the year 1935, 31 years after the "BOOK OF THE LAW" was written! There is the possibility that the masons used the writings from Crowley's book to make the great seal of the united states? After all they believe in the same things! The WTC buildings where initiated in 1960, 25 years after "great seal of the united states" was printed on the reverse side of our dollar! could it be that they built the towers knowing that they where going to fall on September 11th 2001! I also thought that I would add the fact that George H.W. Bush announced that he could bring about a New World Order on the date of September 11, 1990, 30 years after the towers where initiated. the day after the towers fell on September 11, 2001, 11 years after September 11, 1990, the idea of a new world order was announced again! then we went to war with Iraq! Well there are obviously several things that are going on here.

There are speeches, known as "Lakeside Talks", wherein high-ranking officials disseminate information which is not available to the public-at-large.

Would you at least protest?
What if he had already sacrificed 3,003 of them?
What if he had already sacrificed 3,003 of them — and was then to announce his intention to sacrifice hundreds, maybe thousands, more?
This is where we stand tonight with the BBC report of President Bush’s “new Iraq strategy,” and his impending speech to the nation, which, according to a quoted senior American official, will be about troop increases and “sacrifice.”
The president has delayed, dawdled and deferred for the month since the release of the Iraq Study Group.
He has seemingly heard out everybody, and listened to none of them.
If the BBC is right — and we can only pray it is not — he has settled on the only solution all the true experts agree cannot possibly work: more American personnel in Iraq, not as trainers for Iraqi troops, but as part of some flabby plan for “sacrifice.”
Sacrifice!
More American servicemen and women will have their lives risked.
More American servicemen and women will have their lives ended.
More American families will have to bear the unbearable and rationalize the unforgivable —“sacrifice” — sacrifice now, sacrifice tomorrow, sacrifice forever.
And more Americans — more even than the two-thirds who already believe we need fewer troops in Iraq, not more — will have to conclude the president does not have any idea what he’s doing — and that other Americans will have to die for that reason.

Iran to soon launch production of industrial nuclear fuel

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has predicted that Iran would soon "push the button" on production of nuclear fuel for industrial uses, a news agency reported.
"Iran has the fuel cycle and very soon we will push the button on nuclear fuel production for industrial uses," Ahmadinejad said in a speech in the town Ghotvand in the western Khuzestan province, the IRNA news agency said Wednesday.
Iran has already announced it has enriched uranium to levels of around five percent. Producing nuclear fuel that could theoretically be used in a power station would be another important step in mastering the nuclear fuel cycle.

Hey there everyone! This is my first post to the PP blog, although I've been lurking for quite some time now.
Just want to say two quick things:
firstly, I'd like to thank Alex and his incredibly dedicated crew of backroom boys for all their hard work - keeping the faith in these troubled times is prooving to be more than most of us can take. Thankfully, Alex & co are a shining example to all and have helped me (and more recently, many of my friends) understand the seriousness of the issues surrounding the NWO. They have shown us that we really CAN fight back, and maybe make a difference if we fight *together*.
Which brings me to my second point... this problem with the PP blog pointing to multiple individual blogs has started to become unintentionally devisive of "our people", and this is surely not a good thing. I strongly urge Alex to consider hosting his own blog server at PrisonPlanet.
For those who don't know, the problem with the present blog is that it's being outsourced (ie. hosted) to Haloscan, with "comments" links to the Haloscan site at the bottom of each of the PP news articles. This should be fine, except for one small problem... haloscan "rotate" the URLs pointing to each specific blog in order to keep a single
"blog page" to a managable download size. So what happens is that the primary URL is
haloscancom/comments/sonof101/ReaderComments/
but when a certain number of articles have been posted to the blog the associated URL automatically changes to
haloscancom/comments/sonof101/ReaderComments1/
effectively archiving those posts. Subsequent postings should then appear on a new "empty blog page" pointed to by the original URL. This process continues ad infinitum.
Now, I suspect that the news articles on PP are being prepared on more than one computer workstation, and appended to "HTTP templates" which contain, amongst other things, the Haloscan link. At some point in time it seems that one of the templates was accidentally altered such that it points directly to the archive Haloscan page, rather than the most current blog page. Therefore, different news articles appear to link to different "pages" of the same comments blog, entirely at random.
Let's hope this issue gets fixed soon, but until then let's not argue over it; what we need right now is unity.

Scientists from the US and Japan reported Sunday they have genetically engineered a dozen calves that are immune to Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE, or mad cow disease). BEIJING, Jan. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Scientists from the U.S. and Japan reported they have genetically engineered a dozen calves that are immune to Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE, or mad cow disease), according to the Nature Biotechnology Sunday.
They said they had "knocked out" the gene responsible for making the proteins, called prions, the normal protein components of the brain, immune system and other tissues which cause disease when they "go bad."
The disease didn't take hold when brain tissue from two of the genetically engineered cows was exposed to bad prions in the laboratory, they said.
This research is sponsored by a U.S. biotech company, Hematech Inc, based at Sioux Falls in South Dakota. First, the Hematech scientists cultivated a colony of cattle cells in a laboratory dish. Then they used a genetic-engineering method to "knock out" just one gene inside each cell — the gene that directs the production of prion proteins.
The cells were then used to create cloned calf embryos, of which 12 grew to term and were born free of prions. Three have been killed and used for brain tissue analysis, and the other nine have been injected with BSE to see whether they develop the disease or whether, as the scientists hope, they are immune since the gene responsible has been switched off.
The key results won't be known until later this year, at the earliest, according to the Sioux Falls, S.D. based biotechnology company Hematech Inc.
The path to producing cattle free of BSE is not straightforward and could be years away. FDA approval must be sought before genetically engineered animals enter the human food chain.
Representatives of the company suggest that BSE-immune cattle would be of great benefit to the production of human medicines like antibiotics.
If BSE prions get into the human body they can trigger the human equivalent of mad cow disease - variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease - vCJD.
The prions cause havoc in the brain because they make the brain's protein tissue form into unnatural patterns, gradually damaging the links between brain cells, the cumulative effect of which is a gradual wasting away of the brain. vCJD can take years to show symptoms and is invariably fatal.
At least 180 people worldwide have died after eating meat infected with mad cow disease in the last two decades. Symptoms can take years to develop.
But scientists are certain the brain-wasting diseases are caused by the misshapen prions, one of the most mystifying particles in biology. No one knows the function of normal prions and the research suggests the proteins have little value.

Ok you two. A few days ago I stumbled across two pages of comments at this site. At that time on this page, naughty, aka naomi, was getting fairly (I will be kind) silly.
Some how I logged off this page, and onto another that was started 12.24.06. Naomi was no where to be found, but other fellow commenters were. So I stayed there awhile.
Then went back to the longer comment page and mentioned to RCF about the other page, and he too was surprised.
So, to make a short story long, lol, as far as I can see there are only two comment pages, one linked to the articles themselves, and one linked from the "comments and suggestion bar", at the top of the "latest news" page.
Not long ago someone suggested that all articles should have their own link.
I don"t care what our host does. I am so happy just to be conversing and learning from you all!!

I'm in total agreement with Jeb Bush's insistence that his daughter's substance-abuse problem is "a private issue."
But when I think about the heartless stance the governor has taken toward the drug problems of those less fortunate and well connected than his daughter, my empathy turns to outrage.
While Noelle has been given every break in the book -- and then some -- her father has made it harder for others in her position to get the help they need by cutting the budgets of drug treatment and drug court programs in his state. He has also actively opposed a proposed ballot initiative that would send an estimated 10,000 nonviolent drug offenders into treatment instead of jail. I guess what's good for the goose gets the gander locked away.

More than 200 people died in the 2002 Bali bombings.
At least five members of the Jemaah Islamiya (JI) terrorist group, including two Bali bombers, are hiding with Muslim extremists in the southern Philippines, a military official says.
"There may be more than five, but so far we have identified five of them," Brigadier General Juancho Sabban said.
He says they are being sheltered by the Abu Sayyaf group in Jolo, a southern Philippine island.
"The Abu Sayyaf is protecting them because they cannot operate on their own in the Philippines," Mr Sabban said.
His troops have been hunting the Abu Sayyaf band in the jungles of Jolo since August last year.
Mr Sabban says military intelligence has confirmed the presence of the five JI members in Jolo, but the only ones whose names were released were Indonesians, Dulmatin and Patek who are wanted for assembling and detonating bombs in nightclubs in the Indonesian island resort of Bali in 2002, killing more than 200, including 88 Australians.
The JI is believed to be the south-east Asian arm of the Al Qaeda terror network.
The Abu Sayyaf, which is blamed for the worst terror attacks in the Philippines, also has links to Al Qaeda.
Both the JI and the Abu Sayyaf are on Washington's list of foreign terrorist organisations.
Last week, the military said it recovered what it believes are the remains of Abu Sayyaf leader Khadaffy Janjalani from a shallow grave in Jolo.
Authorities are still awaiting DNA testing to confirm the identity of the corpse.
