Now that you put it that way -- sure.
Me too I have grandchildren (six of them) and the prospect for a war to continue to go on for decades -- makes those grandkids of mine probably in their 30's or 40's // that's prime time for the military draft (that's coming back).
I don't want them going off to a war that makes no sense. I'm not sure any war truly makes sense BUT at the same time we can't stand back and allow an enemy to kill those ones we love. Somewhere in all that I was trying to say that an enemy can't be one just made up out of the air and called some strange sounding name that doesn't set well on the ears of average American people. The same ones that have been pretty much isolated all their life anyway and are distrustful of strangers (foreigners).
We can't allow any of that. But IF (I went back and made that a BIG IF) we were ever actually attacked by a true enemy -- then -- yes we do need to stand our ground and fight back. I keep thinking of that oath us military guys took (some doing so many times -- reenlistments) 'against all enemies, foreign and domestic' --
To me that means that sometimes if by no other reason than a bad draw of the cards we should have an enemy that is 'domestic' then we ought to stand and fight back. Doesn't 'domestic' mean right here in our own homeland? As in Home Grown Terrorism. We're always of the habit of looking outwards at the enemy when sometimes they're could rightfully be here under our very nose (domestic).
Impeachment of those we have the legal rights to throw out of office ought to be something we are demanding from our Senators and House folks. They've got the authority but won't use it unless it makes them look the heroes in the eyes of everyone. I say -- let them be hereos. Get those crazy lying SOBs out of the White House and Pentagon and other departments that seem to be calling attention to themselves // Hey, that includes the media as well and any others fostering support to the 'enemy'. My thoughts.
You're either with us or you're with the terrorist -- Is really something we ALL should truly be reminding everyone. Not exactly meant uin the same way we were told however. I think we know who the terrorist are.

Let's take this a bit more serious and try our best to 'cut' CHENEY & BUSH out of the picture by demanding their impeachment. And then follow that up with demanding a new investigation into 9/11 and the unjust war that followed. To me that makes one hell of a lot more sense.

But back to your first Post (above) // I can actually remember hearing that on the radio playing somewhere while I was assigned to Saigon early on in 1966. Watched the movie a few years ago (Robin Williams) and it brought back a few 'thoughts'. Some pretty interesting sun rises and I recall, even the sun set could be quite impessive -- I have this memory of being on a sand bag detail (still at the replacement center, a newbie) and seeing that sun rise, the sky all black streaked with orange tiger-stiped clouds. With a hint of a hot day ahead.
Bad 'thoughts' (mine) // I was just listening at this early hour at C-SPAN listening to Orrin Hatch (Utah Republican) // the guy feaks me out BIG time. I was listening to him comment about how important it is to keep our soldiers there in Iraq because bringing them home might cause the Iraqi people to suffer even more of a hardship from the al Qaeda (calling them the AQI -- al Qaeda in Iraq) // what a cute little abbreviation they've assigned an organization they alone created // pride in workmanship, pride in authorship -- in my opinion. There was NO al Qaeda in Iraq until we went and occupied that particular country // and that was after our military allowed the 'AQ' to escape unharmed from Afghanistan at Tora Bora. Makes you wonder WHY (?) that was. Why give over the attack to Afghanistan war lords (the same that had been our enemy also a few weeks earlier) // that's nuts! But it happened and look what else has happened. Pride in ownership, pride in workmanship.
Concerned about the poor Iraqi people, the same ones they've been bombing back to the stoneage since before we arrived in occupying numbers.

I agree with everything that you said regarding the constitution. As for the link you posted. I really would have to do some hebrew word study etc. , but my opinion at this time is that Sodom and Gomorrah wasn't trashed because "they weren't hospitable enough".

Constitutionally speaking, I believe you are free to believe what you want . Biblically speaking , I would need to find out what the author was trying to say, I want to find out the authors intent by careful study of an old language ( hebrew) with hopefully only one agenda- getting to the truth ,the bottom, no matter what that truth reveals.

Not out of any coercion on the part of the author, but because I have trust ( faith) in the author and know by previous experience that the author only wants me to have true happiness and peace in my mind and soul.

We have different opinions on the right or wrong of being Gay and that is fine and well.
Think on this if you will. If I were Baptist I could say being Mormon is wrong. If I were an orthadox Jew I could say that being Christian is wrong. If I were a Republican I could say being a Democrate is wrong. If I were a communist I could say that being a capitalist is wrong.
Being an American I have to say that all those people that are what they are is right in their own sight and only the Creator can judge their actions in the hereafter, but in the here and now they are covered by the Constitution and Bill of Rights and by the conscious of those few good men in authority(if any are left) to protect the rights of us all to be what we want to be, to be who we are, and to live freely without impediments to our liberty as long as those persons do not prevent the freedoms of others garanteed in our country's founding documents.
Equality and liberty are not earned, they are not dispensed at the whim of social or religous trends. They are inalienable from birth. A heritage that cost much in blood from the sacrifices our ancestors made during all the wars and battles they fought to ensure those rights.
I do not necessarily want to convince anyone of rightness or wrongness in a person being Gay, but to show that Gay people suffer not from being Gay, but from the persecution that is upon them based in a religous belief that Gay people are evil, or in some way in need of conversion to "normality" which by that preconcieved state necessitates second class citizenship.

One of my best friends, Jeff Adams, is a total pro at fishing and hunting. This guy pulls multiple fish out of the Kalama river in WA with little or no effort.
