I think I generally agree with what you are cleverly insinuating. I just do not know what was feeding that post. It was eerily similar to the old exaggeration of a non-existent polarizing issue.
The main reason I find RP's message compelling is that he restores freedom of speech so that we can actually talk about what is going on rather than continuing to pussyfoot around it. As far as 9/11, WTF. I am much more concerned (as I believe RP is) about habeus corpus, Gitmo, blowback, unchecked federal powers, healthcare, NAU, NWO, Iraq...soon to be Iran, no medicare, social security, continued slavery to the federal reserve, 800 death camps and the continuity of government, etc.

PHILADELPHIA — Former President George H.W. Bush got his World War II service revolver back Wednesday, 60 years after giving it to a Navy lieutenant aboard the submarine that rescued him when his plane was shot down over the Pacific Ocean. Bush donated the revolver to the National Constitution Center the same day the son of late Lt. J.G. Albert Brostrom returned the .38-caliber Smith & Wesson and its leather shoulder holster to him. Brostrom was the sonar man on the USS Finback, which rescued Bush, a Navy pilot, after he was shot down by Japanese anti-aircraft fire on Sept. 2, 1944. Brostrom brought the future president to the infirmary and later shared his bunk with him. "It was a little grubby in there, but that's how it was done in those days," Bush said. He gave Brostrom the revolver in gratitude. Ron Brostrom, 59, of Chester Springs, Pa., said his father never spoke to his family about the war, except for the kindness and sense of humor of the combat pilot who gave him the revolver. "We only knew it was a 20-year-old lieutenant," Ron Brostrom said. The family did not realize who the pilot was until 1980 when Bush _ then a vice-presidential candidate _ announced he was looking for crew members from the submarine. "Dad was kind of like, 'The kid did OK,'" Brostrom said with a laugh. Bush presented the gun to Constitution Center president and CEO Joseph Torsella for permanent display in the museum. Bush is chairman of the center's board of trustees. The Constitution Center, a nonprofit organization founded in 2003, contains more than 100 exhibits dedicated to increasing public understanding of the Constitution.

Plame said that violated her privacy rights and was illegal retribution for her husband’s criticism of the administration.

The Continuing Saga of Leo Wanta
There is an individual who calls in to the Putnam and Briem shows.
He refers to himself as Tom from Venice. [Venice, California] Putnam remarks
from time-to-time about Tom's high level Democrat contacts. Putnam seems to feel
that Tom has a fair amount of credibility. And Tom does seem to get his hands on
timely and not publicly known information.
On August 19 and 20, Tom phoned in to the Putnam program and then
the Briem program, respectively. The following information was offered up
with the report that documents in-hand confirmed it's validity.
I apologize in advance for the hodgepodge posting. I gleaned it from two
different shows. It may be a little jumbled. But it's late, and this will
have to do.
I can neither confirm or dispute the information. It may be very
accurate. Then again, it may not be. I merely present it for your access. Any references
to 'we now know' or similar statements, should be viewed as having been stated by Tom
from Venice.
Documents were provided to Putnam by Tom, that support Tom's
conclusion that there's a potential meltdown on the horizon in Washington, D.C.
Even though our main stream press doesn't want to cover it.
Under house arrest in Switzerland at this time is the former
Somali Ambassador to Switzerland, Leo Wanta. Mr. Wanta is a supposed lifetime operative
of the CIA, and a United States Citizen. Mr. Wanta did work for George Bush and
Republican party partisans. Wanta was appointed Ambassador on behalf of the Somalis
in April of 1993.
Wanta goes back a long time in association with our government.
Before becoming the Somali Ambassador to Switzerland, he was Ambassador to Canada on
behalf of the Somalis. But even before this, he worked his entire life in the
Republican party, supported Ronald Reagan, then was hired by George Bush.
Here we have a United States Citizen who worked for the CIA, the
Department of the Treasury, the US Customs Service, the US State Department, and the
NSA being appointed the Ambassador of a foreign nation.
Tom was in contact with Mr. Wanta's attorney. Documents were
provided to Tom who passed them on to Putnam. Putnam admitted to having received
these documents.
Now Mr. Wanta was in Switzerland one month prior to Vince Foster's
death which was ruled a suicide by Starr, but we have yet to see his
documentation and justifications for his conclusions.
Mr. Wanta has documents showing that Vince Foster made
reservations for him and a Geneva Ferelle at the Hotel De La Pleau in Geneva, Switzerland.
Mr. Ferelle is believed to work for the Italian Secret Police.

BACKGROUND:
Promissory Bank Notes (PBNs) are one form of bank instrument used
by countries in their nation debt financing. They are also used as
the basis of arbitrage transactions, which are illegal in the United
States, but not elsewhere. In this transaction for an overall face
value of $27.5 trillion US DOLLARS, the PBNs have been purchased by a
consortium of funders, predominately from the Far East and Europe.
The funders have agreed to purchase the PBNs at 71.5% of their face
value, to be repaid at par in 20 years and 1 day, together with an
annual interest of 7 1/2%. The PBNs have been sold by a consortium
of some 200 banks at a cost of 61.5%. The 10.0% difference is made
up of bank fees, suppliers (collateral) fees, funding agents fees
and various commission fees, together with monies going to various
countries to fund projects.

This loan transaction is the largest ever ever put together, and some
two thirds have been completed, resulting in some 1.76 trillion
dollars worth of foreign monies having been put up for
conversation. We do not know the discount employed, but we believe
that it was between 10 and as much as 25% in some cases, hence
the remaining monies for disbursement must lie somewhere between
1.3 and 1.6 trillion US dollars, ie the United States has already
received a minimum of $150 billion dollars in "conversation" fees.
The remaining monies for disbursement have been held by the US
banks, for the reasons which can only be described as fraudulent,
under the direct instruction of the US Government, for over a
year and a half. In addition, there has been a conspiracy of
misinformation, orchestrated by the highest levels of the US
Government, regarding the exact whereabouts of these monies and
the timing of their payout. These monies should have been paid
out in June, 1989, or shortly thereafter.

Nicholson has weathered a number of scandals, namely the massive loss of veterans’ data in 2006, since he was sworn in as Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs on February 1, 2005. Nicholson was also criticized for claiming the number of injured vets is overblown since “a lot of them come in for dental problems.”

The Bush administration announced a new tool Tuesday to freeze financial assets of those who want to destabilize Iraq.
President Bush unveiled a new executive order that allows the administration to block bank accounts and any other financial assets that might be found in this country belonging to people, companies or groups that the United States deems are working to threaten stability in Iraq.
Bush cited the “unusual and extraordinary threat” to national security and foreign policy of the United States “posed by acts of violence threatening the peace and stability of Iraq and undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq and to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people.”
No person, company or group was designated under the order on Tuesday.
The order seeks to fill a gap in U.S. authority to use financial sanctions to go after such offenders.

Two RAF fighter jets were scrambled on Tuesday to intercept two Russian planes on course for British airspace, it emerged yesterday. The incident marked the latest escalation of tensions in the standoff between London and Moscow. As Moscow hesitated in its response to Britain's expulsion of four Russian diplomats, two Tornado fighters raced to meet the Tu95 "Bear" bombers that had been dispatched from their base near the northern port city of Murmansk in the Arctic Circle. The planes turned back before they reached British airspace. The incident, now rare according to the RAF, but once commonplace during the Cold War, may be seen as a show of defiance by the Kremlin. But Moscow said the Russian planes were on a training flight unrelated to the current diplomatic crisis over the murder of Alexander Litvinenko.

The board of US media firm Dow Jones & Co voted to approve a five-billion-dollar takeover bid by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., the target company announced late Tuesday. The firm confirmed a report in its daily business title The Wall Street Journal that it "would be prepared to approve, and recommend to the Dow Jones stockholders" the agreement, in a statement on its website. The fate of the deal now rests with controlling shareholders in the Bancroft family, which holds 64 percent of the voting stocks in Dow Jones. Amid reports of divisions within the family, the proposal is expected to be presented to the Bancrofts at a meeting on Thursday, though it could take more days before they make a decision on the deal, the newspaper said.

After reports emerged in April that Democratic candidate John Edwards spent $400 for a haircut, the media jumped on the story. It was mentioned twice as often as Romney's makeup work in the days after each story was reported, according to a database search. At 10 a.m. on April 4, 2001, representatives of 13 environmental groups were brought into the Old Executive Office Building for a long-anticipated meeting. Since late January, a task force headed by Vice President Cheney had been busy drawing up a new national energy policy, and the groups were getting their one chance to be heard.
Cheney was not there, but so many environmentalists were in the room that introductions took up "about half the meeting," recalled Erich Pica of Friends of the Earth. Anna Aurilio of the U.S. Public Interest Group said, "It was clear to us that they were just being nice to us."
A confidential list prepared by the Bush administration shows that Cheney and his aides had already held at least 40 meetings with interest groups, most of them from energy-producing industries. By the time of the meeting with environmental groups, according to a former White House official who provided the list to The Washington Post, the initial draft of the task force was substantially complete and President Bush had been briefed on its progress.
In all, about 300 groups and individuals met with staff members of the energy task force, including a handful who saw Cheney himself, according to the list, which was compiled in the summer of 2001. For six years, those names have been a closely guarded secret, thanks to a fierce legal battle waged by the White House. Some names have leaked out over the years, but most have remained hidden because of a 2004 Supreme Court ruling that agreed that the administration's internal deliberations ought to be shielded from outside scrutiny.
One of the first visitors, on Feb. 14, was James J. Rouse, then vice president of Exxon Mobil and a major donor to the Bush inauguration; a week later, longtime Bush supporter Kenneth L. Lay, then head of Enron Corp., came by for the first of two meetings. On March 5, some of the country's biggest electric utilities, including Duke Energy and Constellation Energy Group, had an audience with the task force staff.
British Petroleum representatives dropped by on March 22, one of about 20 oil and drilling companies to get meetings. The National Mining Association, the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America and the American Petroleum Institute were among three dozen trade associations that met with Cheney's staff, the document shows.

Today in an interview with NPR, Homeland Security Advisor Frances Fragos Townsend argued that the NIE’s findings strengthen the administration’s argument to stay the course. “Al Qaeda’s resources are focused in Iraq because that’s where we are capturing and killing them every single day, so it drains their resources there,” she said. “[T]hey are very much tied down because we are keeping them tied down fighting them in Iraq.”
NPR host Steve Inskeep challenged Townsend, pointing out that al Qaeda had “no capability in Iraq before the war.” Townsend refused to answer the question, stating, “I don’t know — I wasn’t at that briefing.” She then added, “I’m going to rely on the intelligence community. … I would refer you to them.” Listen here:

Partisan campaign or electoral activities on federal government property are illegal. This prohibition, however, has not stopped the Bush administration from politicizing virtually every agency under its control. Below is a quick review of the extent of the White House’s efforts to politicize the federal agencies:
Office of Faith Based Initiatives: The office was “used almost exclusively to win political points with both evangelical Christians and traditionally Democratic minorities. The office’s primary mission, providing financial support to charities that serve the poor, never got the presidential support it needed to succeed.” [MSNBC, 10/13/06]
General Services Administration: After a GSA meeting during which White House deputy director of political affairs Scott Jennings gave a PowerPoint presentation that included slides listing Democratic and Republican seats the White House viewed as vulnerable in 2008, a map of contested Senate seats and other information on 2008 election strategy, GSA Administrator Lurita Doan asked how GSA could help “our candidates.” Special Counsel Scott Bloch has since advised the President that Doan should “be disciplined to the fullest extent for her serious violation of the Hatch Act.” [Congress Daily, 6/12/07]

Turkey to pipe Iran's gas to Europe
Turkey is to invest $3.5 billion in Iran's South Pars gas field starting from 2008, senior officials at the Turkish energy ministry announced.
Late last week Turkey made known that it had signed a deal to use Iran as a transit route for Turkmen gas and that it would also develop Iran's South Pars gas field to transport gas on to Europe, according to news agencies.
Turkish Energy Minister Hilmi Gulerhas told reporters Turkey wanted to set up a joint venture with Iran and Turkmenistan to sell gas to Europe and did not want to be just a transit country.
Ankara has made it clear that it sees Iran as a potential partner for the Nabucco gas pipeline project, which was conceived as a way to diversify gas supplies to European markets.
Washington has voiced its opposition to the memorandum of understanding between Turkey and Iran, while the EU has not yet officially commented.
In a TV program broadcast by NTV news this week, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan defended the deal, adding that "Turkey thinks of its own interests and the US will eventually understand this".
Tehran is resolved to keep a high profile on the international economic scene and welcomes any initiative which boosts its role in global business.
Chairman of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines Mohammad Nahavandian made the remark at the annual joint Iran-Italy Referring to the concerns raised by the Europeans regarding energy supply, Nahavandian said that "energy is one of the main concerns in Europe, and the Europeans are working to secure energy for the second half of the 21st century".
The official called for measures to encourage European investors to boost interaction with Iran's private entrepreneurs.
Chairman of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce said Iran is ready to promote cooperation with Italian investors and benefit from Italy's experiences in tourism industry as well.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has warned the Sudanese government on Wednesday of further sanction.
The British premier emphasized that he was prepared to slap further sanctions on the Sudanese government if it did not stop the bloodshed in Darfur.
Regarding the subject, Brown also indicated that there would be no shift of policy on the war-torn western region of Sudan under his premiership.
Pushing ahead with his government stance towards Sudan, Brown told the parliament that London would not ease the pressure on Khartoum.
"We are prepared to take further sanctions against the government and against people in that regime if they do not cease the violence, stop the militias and make sure that people have a decent living standard in a region that for too long has suffered from poverty, famine and war," said the premier.
Khartoum, which has been accused of sponsoring a genocidal crackdown on rebels through its Janajaweed militia, has assured the United Nations that it does not seek a military solution to the four-year conflict.
Pointing to the importance of international community's intervention, Brown reiterated that it is urgent now that the international community reach an agreement on the appropriate response.
"We are sponsoring a United Nations resolution to bring in an African Union and United Nations force into the region as quickly as possible and I believe that even before that force arrives, there should be a cessation of violence on the ground and the president has a responsibility for making that happen," the prime minister added.
