The terrorists and insurgents are well aware that our press will splash the details of their handiwork across the front pages. The reporting of the conflict has effectively changed the nature of the conflict.

I'm not in favour of reporting restrictions, but I do think the media need to think more carefully about how they report the news.

It's interesting to speculate what effect instant reporting of the thousands of soldiers killed in the First World War would have had if the technology had been available.
