Gravatar Maybe if we hadn’t been told to go shopping--whether we could afford it or not--and instead been saving, we’d have some cushion for this inflationary period.

I dunno about what the government tells us to do in speeches making a difference v. what their policies give us the means to do.

This has been a recovery like no other, without the productivity gains you and I create showing up in our paychecks, benefits, or time off from work. (It's not called the lock-in recovery for nothing.
)

Speaking of imbalance-by-design, don't the numbers tell us that the great lower and middle demographic swath of America have less assets to their name now than when the recovery began? At the same time the corporations began earning almost more money than they knew what to (sensibly) do with. All the good investments were gone, so they started gambling on the iffy ones.

That requires leadership, though.

Agreed. And a sense that the leader knows, or can empathize, on poverty or want. Who can find me a rich Republican to do this? And how well does that Republicans play with their base?

Gravatar We were sent an official gubmint letter estimating what our check would be. Yep, it's going in the bank. (We must hate America, we save money.)
I don't think Bush really has a clue how nervous, even scared people are. The US is deeply in debt,as are a lot of citizens, and we are being told to spend money. Clueless? Denial? Both?
A government that taxes the interest earned on savings accounts does not want you to save.

Gravatar don't the numbers tell us that the great lower and middle demographic swath of America have less assets to their name now than when the recovery began?

Yes. Which brings another question to mind: instead of trickling down, shouldn't we be trickling UP? Instead of lowering taxes on the wealthiest 1% and hoping this filters down to the teeming masses in the occasional alms thrown from the Rolls Royce. shouldn't we be investing in the lower and middle class since there's so much more of them? And when they get flush, their economic prosperity will trickle up to the management/owner/investment class?

Wasn't that what the WPA was all about?

Might be fodder for a future blog post ...

Gravatar You're expecting long-term planning from people who pshaw climate change and see nothing wrong with staying in Iraq for 100 years?

I don't know if your friend carries insurance for his meds, but I know I'm seeing, as a pharmacy tech, more and more insurance co-pays go up and more "prior authorization" denials for coverage. (Prior auth basically means the insurance company second-guesses your doctor on whether or not you actually need the meds prescribed - usually 'cause there's something cheaper available, even if you've tried that cheaper alternative and it didn't work for you.)

Gravatar Talking about Online Loan and credit cards, I think you should see this Payday Loans Online site, which offers all sorts of personal loans for your needs.
