Yeah, I've actually been looking for some residential hydrogen fuel cell systems lately. No luck yet though.
I'd love a solar/fuel cell combo set up (let solar power, power the fuel cell and fuel cell power, power the house), but I think at this point that's still a pipe dream.
Still either option (independently or together) seem like a better option than digging an oil well.

And they say speculators aren't driving up the price of oil? Here's a classic case of a hoarder in our own backyard... literally.

There's also tax incentives with solar. Plus no smell. Oil rigs reek of rotting oil. There goes the neighborhood indeed.

I think your math is off. He pays the well off in under a year at today's prices.

Thanks, nm. That's what I get for blogging before coffee!
I fixed it. I still don't think it's worth it, considering he has investors and all.

I'm not saying it's worth it; just that if it is worth it it'll be worth it relatively soon. If he has the connections actually to sell the crude, that is.

Great story...math is a little off though. $129.99 X 3 = $387. $387 X 365 = $141,255. Not $14,000.
Oops. You DID fix it. Sorry. I'm not picky, I'm a teacher. Anyway, I would take a backyard oil rig if I had a backyard...or oil.
