These plans crop up every so often. I do think that even the senator know good and well that most women who are seeking abortion have put enough thought and tears into their decision that an ultra-sound showing them what they already know isn't going to change their minds.
This type of legislation has one intention, and that's to put smaller abortion clinics out of business. The cost of purchasing, maintaining and operating enough ultra-sound machines to use one on every patient (whether she wants it or not, which is another issue altogether) would put most smaller abortion clinics into bankruptcy.
This suggested legislation is about as rational as Stacey Campfield wanting issue death certificates for all aborted fetuses.
It seems that some conservatives actually think that liberals dream of having abortions or inciting other folks to do so. Utterly silly.
Wow, leave it to a man to come up with something so inane. I don't know about the rest of you, but ultrasounds really don't look like much of anything to me. What a useless piece of legislation.
Everyone here in TN needs to be paying attention to Senate Bill 127.
It refers to abortion not being a right, and they're looking to outlaw abortion even in cases of incest, rape and danger to the mother.
This was argued on the floor, yesterday.
They are going to push very hard for it this year, because they can only have this amendment in a year when a Gov is elected.
So they work on passing it in 08 and 09 and it's on the ballot in 10. If they fail this time, they have to wait until 2014.
Please let all pro choice people know about this bill.
There needs to be an organized response from all pro choice people to stop this.
While it's unlikely to pass in the House, it wouldn't be wise to take any chances.

i think what might be called for here is a good strong kick to the testicles, followed by a clockwork-orange style viewing of an endlessly repeating video loop of that event.
