Gravatar I love the fact that my state, VA, isn't really even being considered a "swing state" at this point. We're officially a blue state for the first time in over 40 years.

Gravatar I will be casting my vote today (early voting in Tennessee). I am voting for Obama. I even signed up several people this year including my blind mother in law. I felt it was necessary because the way we are living right now, if somethig is not done about it, my children will not have a chance. People better wake up before it is too late and we are on the streets in soup lines once again as a country.

Gravatar Way to go, Robin! I should have mentioned that taking a friend or elderly neighbor or relative to vote with you is VERY good karma!

Gravatar "Outter wingnuttia" huh? Why would Williamson Co. deserve that description? Is it that we have the 8th highest per capita income in the nation? Maybe it's the outstanding public school system. No wait, it must be because three of the four governmental entities in the state with AAA bond ratings are in, and include, Williamson Co. Maybe we need more "wing nuts" in TN.

Gravatar Or maybe, Senator, it's your recent fiscal crisis, which usually seems to follow Republican administrations.

Gravatar "Williamson County's overall financial health appears to be in pretty good shape.

It's the only county in Tennessee with a Triple-A credit rating, which means it can borrow money at a lower interest rate than most other counties and cities in the state."

Ha, SB you are criticizing a county for trying to keep taxes low by cutting spending? I guess the liberal solution would have been to just put it to the taxpayers and demand more money regardless of what the economic climate was? I commend Williamson County - they seem to be in a lot better shape than Shelby county and the city of Memphis. Guess who has been in control of Memphis city and Shelby county government for a long time? Guess who has the highest property tax in the state.

Gravatar Ha, SB you are criticizing a county for trying to keep taxes low by cutting spending?

Hah! Nah, I'm criticizing them for ending up in the same fiscal quagmire as the rest of the country, despite their conservatism, evangelicalism, Republicanism, family values-ism, you name it ism.

They're no better than the rest of us! Imagine that!

Gravatar The thing that bothers me about all of this is the fact that people claim to be Christians and they are acting so ugly. Jesus died for all men and women and it is a sad shame that people are claiming to be servants of the most high God and acting like the devil. All of the hate that is out there by both parties is not reflecting God. Mind you I am for Obama, but let's face it, there is hate taking place on both sides, more on the Republican side. The Republican's are saying if you vote Democratic, then you are not a Christian. This is just wrong. God is a God over anyone who believes, Democratic or Republican. All of this hate is not from him, so regardless of the party that any of us belong to, we need to get hate out of it and come together so we can fix the problems that our country is facing. What got us in all of this trouble is not acting as Christians, but greed. We need to get back to basics and start serving Christ because we are so focused on hating one another, we are going to miss out on the whole issue here in our country. This country was founded on God and we have put him so far out of the scope of things, everyone is fighting. That is for sure not Christianity. Grow up people and stop fighting and come together.

Gravatar Mind you I am for Obama, but let's face it, there is hate taking place on both sides, more on the Republican side.

I think you are correct to a point, Robin. What I see more on the left isn't hate but anger: anger at the stolen elections, at being called unpatriotic and traitorous, at the lies, the war, Katrina, etc. And if any liberal dares express that anger we are "too angry" and told to shut up and "get over it."

I don't know what the right has to be angry about. They've been in charge for at least the past 10 years. I think the Republican Party has been using wedge politics and fear politics to mobilize their base, and some of the stuff we've been seeing at McCain/Palin campaign rallies is the inevitable result of that.

Gravatar Southern Beale, I agree with what you are saying whole heartedly, but we as a people must try and do what is best for our country and that is to pray for it. I too agree that the Republican party is displaying most of the hate throughout this whole election. I took the time yesterday to go and view the movie "W", and believe me I am a strong Democrat. I have been in a position where I have made more than $3,000,000 in a year and still voted Democratic. I was brought up in a middle class family, so no matter how much money I make, I felt it is my duty to vote for the people that built this country. But after watching this movie (they say it is a true story), I actually feel sorry for George W. Bush because he really does not know what he is doing. If you know anything about the bible, you will know that all of this has to take place in order for prophecy to be fulfilled. I am for sure not talking about the nasty words that are being said, but what has happened to our country must happen because we have gotten so far away from God and he is sick and tired of us and the way we live. It is going to take place the way that it is taking place no matter what we do. All we can do is get our lives in line with the word of God and wait - because it is destiny. But the mud slinging that is going on right now is for sure not what God would have us to do. We need to be praying for our country and our leaders because after watching that movie, George W. Bush is way in over his head. He really started out wanting to do something great but was not smart enough to do the job and was mislead by his advisors (based on the movie). So we must really pray for him. I promise you I never would have felt that way if I had not seen the movie. I felt that he had misused his power (and he did), but he is as well being used to allow prophecy to come to pass. God has already written the book, we are just living it out. So we need to come together and start praying for our country and stop blaming one another.
