If I paid a dogsitter to watch my dog, I'd realize pretty darn fast if he were in fact not watching her.
The indignation here should be directed toward the government bureaucrats who allowed these abuses to persist at least as much toward the abusers themselves.
Unless, that is, one believes that government is always saintly and the private sector is always devil-spawned.
Stated differently, Halliburton may or may not be an ethical enterprise, but it can only be unethical to the extent that big government (NOT "Republican government") allows it to be unethical.
The less that government does, the fewer opportunities for waste, fraud and abuse that will arise.

"The less that government does, the fewer opportunities for waste, fraud and abuse that will arise."
But Kip, my post disproves that little AEI talking point. Unless you're suggesting that NO ONE does the work.
Someone has to do it, and private enterprise's profit-oriented model shows that more times than not, it's fleecing the taxpayers. In nearly every example I gave it was a government audit that uncovered the fraud.

Oh, you're a libertarian. Which is to say one of those profoundly silly people who resists any encroachment on their personal freedom by government on the theory that the private sector can oppress you more efficiently.
Get a clue, pal. There's a reason that in the rest of the world the word for "privatization" is "corruption."

You really need to pay attention to the market driven health care fraud in America.
Did you know that the fine for HEALTHCOUTH was recently settled at 15 million , yes million, dollars while robbing our system of BILLIONS!!!
Now where is that money?

Noticed the mayor has come up with a plan for free identity theft monitoring for DavCo residents...too bad it's coming a full three weeks after the robbery, plenty of time for a few folks to get scammed.
Better a little something than nothing at all, though, I suppose...

Eleanor,
I am worried that the "fraud alerts" of 337,000 Davidson County residents coming all at once will overwhelm the Equifax/Experian/TransUnion systems.
I put my fraud alert on about 10 days ago and have received mailings from all three companies. I wonder, if even 10% of residents request a fraud alert, if these agencies could deal with that many requests all at once?
