People still use the word 'macho'? I thought that went out with white belts, bell-bottoms and mullets.

Society followed the menz, the Gordon Gekkos, down the rabbit hole and didn't mind their inflated sense of...self. Pushing papers around, pretending they were rugged blue-collar types (football teams or even soldiers). Well, at least they made money.
What'd we end up with? A bunch of stuff which, when turned back into real money, wasn't worth hardly what they said.
It takes a bit of wry to realize that we have as much demand now for the stuff which used to be "woman's work", which was a "calling" (i.e. don't ever expect to make any money at it; we'll honor you with cheap, cheap words of praise). Teaching? Child care? Nursing? Check, check, check.
The end of macho? Big loss.

ProSo: "Macho" went out with Disney's "Macho Duck".
And there's a part of me which enjoys that the (surviving) Village People get to earn a bit of coin in as family-friendly breaktime entertainment in minor-league sport arenas.
