Gravatar The GOP ballot had both candidates and delegates, didn't it?

The Christian conservatives who voted for Huckabee in numbers were not only rural. I think you'd need to add "suburban," in places like Chattanooga and the Tri-Cities.

I don't know, since I didn't vote in the GOP primary. I just know what people told me.

Gravatar I would add Knox county to the list. Never forget that Crazy Stacey Campfield is our rep. The Jezettes were out in force here as well.

Gravatar I'm not sure either, but it sure is nice to see the GOP in disaray. I don't know the mindset of Tennessee voters, but could it be they simply couldn't find a Republican candidate they wanted to vote for?

Gravatar could it be they simply couldn't find a Republican candidate they wanted to vote for?

I suspect that's it in a nutshell.

I find it interesting that a bunch of folks who had so robotically followed Dear Leader off a cliff are now at a loss because they don't have anyone telling them what to do.

Gravatar They would have voted for Ron Paul if he hadn't been blacklisted by the media. More war for everyone. I hope you feel good about it. Simple minded thing you.

Gravatar Well, Ron Paul wasn't blacklisted in Tennessee! He was on the ballot, and his supporters blanketed every polling place with signs and volunteers.

I feel sorry for Mike Gravel. He really *was* blacklisted, and he's anti-war, too.

Gravatar It is a bit of fun watching the GOP confusion. They remind me of a trail of ants blindly following each other. Put something toxic (McCain?) on the trail and they scramble in confusion getting angrier and angrier.

Gravatar I can't believe you're surprised about this, Southern Beale. What I'm pleasantly surprised about is that more states didn't go for Hackabee.

The fact that Hackabee didn't win the nomination shows me that the Jeebofascist vote is on its way out. The evangelicals are waking up.

Gravatar It is distressing to see Huckabee do well at all. I liked what I heard from him at first, too, but I came to realize there's a word in the Bible for him: Hypocrite. Just find the CNN YouTube debate. He lied about having a theology degree. I would never hire a guy like that to work for me and I would fire him if I found out after the fact that he had "inflated" his resume. I don't care whether he has a theology degree or not. But the fact that he would lie about something so basic says he cannot be trusted. End of story.

I think so many evangelicals voted for him because they feel their beliefs are under assault (rightly so) and Huckabee positions himself as their savior (hypocrite). Like most voters, they don't pay much attention until it's time to vote, so if their pastor says vote Huckabee, that's what they do.

Republicans are in total disarray. McCain is a worse candidate than Bob Dole was. If the Dems can't win this election, they can't fight their way out of a paper bag - which if Pelosi's Congress is any example, they indeed cannot.

Gravatar it isn't only tennessee, either.

we picked him in georgia, too

Gravatar Dirk,

The beliefs of evangelicals are not under attack. They are as free as the rest of us. What they can't do anymore is us the power of the state to force other people to "behave." Their problem is that they think freedom means agreeing with them. They must grow up and at least accept that the rest of us do not have to live the way they want us to.
