Smaller, more fuel efficient cars have been stealig market share away from the big three for forty years. They're myopic for not seeing it coming.

This month I saw a TV ad for the Cadillac Escalade with a voice-over extolling the luxe features and ending, "If it had a toilet, I'd live in it".
Presumably, in front of one's foreclosed McMansion in a Dallas or Phoenix suburb.
Looks like good old market forces are rewarding car producers that make vehicles that people want. GM better adapt quickly if they want to survive as a car manufacturer.
