Your hair is beautiful!
I ran across your blog and post not terribly long after you started this 'no poo' and the 11th of June was the last time shampoo was used on my hair..my hair is very thick, heavy, and porous but I have so many issues with chemicals so I really jumped on this wagon.
I'm still in the transitional period but from the beginning my scalp has not itched or hurt, this is a good thing. I also use the lemon juice diluted as opposed to the ACV, which made my hair even 'heavier'...
Thank you so much for having posted back when....I'm with you on loving the frugal aspect of it!

I might try this myself. I have been using handmade soap as my shampoo for awhile now. I like it, but haven't been using vinegar like I should from reading your post, so I've had trouble with build up. I've been using it undiluted, so haven't been using it very often because of the smell. I think I'll have to change my routine. I'll have to try the baking soda too. Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks for the update on the no shampoo thing. We haven't used conditioner for several weeks and our hair is better for that. When we've used up all our shampoo we'll go onto the baking soda and vinegar. Your hair looks beautiful!

I have not been completely faithful to it, but probably 70% of the time (travel, etc., gets in the way sometimes). I love it, too. And it looks best at the end of the day, with no styling products. Amazing.

After reading about it on your blog, I started the baking soda / vinegar routine too, around the end of May. I love it and I'll never go back to shampoo again!!!

My hair is fine but there's lots of it...if that makes sense. Really fine strands, but really thick in volume and LOTS of it and VERY straight...
But I have a hormonal condition that makes my hair REALLY oily if I miss even one day of washing...
I read that your hair used to get oily after only one day too...
Do you think this could work for me? Because my hair doesn't hold curl and it does get shampoo buildup (I use Head & Shoulders 2 in 1 and that extra conditioner puts a funny layer on...) Do you have any more information about this method? I'm really eager to find out!
And do you smell like fish and chips all day? Or does the vinegar go away?
I'm so eager to try this!

I did the no 'poo thing for about a year and a half. I did occasionally wash with shampoo/conditioner for those times when my hair was naaaaasty or exceptionally dry. I've since gone back to shampoo, but will still do the no 'poo thing when I get too much buildup.

Jeez, it looks even better thatn when I saw you at Powells! So, ok, you've convinced me. I'll give it a go while I'm off work. Are you going to be able to make the PDX Knit Bloggers meet up this weekend? Knit-Purl agreed to host us!

Me too!
Putting your vinegar in a small spray bottle works really well.
Also- making a rosemary infusion to spray on every couple of days is nice.

This fascinates me. I think we have the same hair - mine's lightened, partly to give it more body, but fine, straight and disgustingly oily by the second day.
Huh.
What do your do if you travel? Little bottles of baking soda and vinegar?

Your hair looks fantastic. I'd never heard of this till your post, I might have to give it a try. I hate the smell of most commercial shampoos.

Hooray for the hair update! Once in awhile, I check your site JUST FOR THAT INFORMATION! Thank you so much for filling us in.
By the way: I use color on my hair. Lately, it's been soft brown with purple (yes! PurpleI I lost a bet!). Will this method work for color-treated hair?

Hey you,
I had to use shampoo yesterday to wash the henna out, but I've been trying this since last week. Whee! So far so good.
BTW, email heading your way!
