Sorry you are all feeling lousy--that's a crappy way to end the summer! But I'm jealous that you got to meet Cat--I think I have a crush on her mind. I just got her new socks book and I almost want to sleep with it under my pillow. 
As for cars--we are currently in a similar situation as you and need to buy a new one soon. We are considering a Toyota Matrix (or Pontiac Vibe)--the back seat is supposed to be roomy but I haven't shoved my kids in one yet so I can't tell you if it will really fit three. Let me know if you find a better option!
Well how crappy that you and the family feel crappy! I drove kinda by your house earlier today and was thinking about you, glad I didn't stop by to say hi :P (just kidding) Sounds like the Cat signing was a blast. I need to get more involved with the PDX Bloggers, I keep meaning to make it to an event but I always seem to be busy! Oh well, hopefully I'll catch up with you soon. Hope you feel better!

The homemade lucet trick is a good one. I've wanted to try to make that cord, but not enough to shell out for a real lucet. The STR is also lovely!

I loved your lucet so much I had to come home and make my own and learn how to use it. Thanks to your lead, I knew how to whack on a plastic fork and, voila, one little cord-making fool I became!

About 3 weeks ago, I got floored by a virus. I ached. I had a fever. I couldn't get up. I was dizzy. My husband was out of town and the kids were busy all day with friends, so I slept and slept and slept.

Hey, have you considered the norwalk virus (spelling?). I hear it's hit many local (Oregon) nursing homes, hospitals, and such.
