Gravatar Sanitary undersock. I was always uncomfortable with the term. But I was a weird kid.

I agree with your thesis, though. Pulling the pants down to the top of the shoe makes it look like the bottom half of a pegged leisure suit.

Gravatar I never knew why they called them "sanitary" socks until I read the article...

Gravatar This is one of those things that, when it's pointed out, seems so obvious. The pant length has been bothering me for a dog's age, but I never recognzied it as such. Yes indeed, bring back the stirrup. What use is it to be a Red Sox if you have to roll up your pants legs to see them?

Robinson, Kaline, Clemente, Yastrzemski. They were a different kind of ballplayer from today's, weren't they? On those two subjects alone - changes in baseball couture, differences in approach from a few decades ago (never mind going back to Ruth) - you've probably got a book's worth of underexplored baseball territory.

Gravatar I couldn't agree more. Bring back the stirrups, but not the high arch. I HATE the full pant leg most players today use.

Another thing, McGwire, Sosa, Bonds, all those guys who have been inplicated in the steroids thing should at LEAST have an astrick beside their records. Does anyone really believe that records that stood for decades could somehow be miraculously broken by not just one but a bundh of players within just a few years of each other without the help of chemicals?
