As absurd as it seems, with the smoking backpack and all, it's entirely possible that the poor simpleton didn't know what was in there. Not that I've got a problem with shooting the bastards down, but I'm glad they've got some live ones. They're bound to roll up some higher beards. Unfortunately, it Europe and they can't be executed.
