I know Jeter is still the star of the team (I can't include A-Rod, MVP or not, until he at least hits his weight in the post-season), but Matsui just seems to be the ROCK on the team. Time after time he comes through with a clutch hit (usually only to be left on base)or does something that sparks the squad. To me he is crucial...and don't worry, George will have some money left over.

Matsui was worse than A-Rod in the ALDS this year, and A-Rod more than hit his weight in the 2004 ALDS when he had the key hit in two extra-inning wins
